Okay, okay: it wasn't at a country estate, but at a 1920s-themed event at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Tortuous reasoning can be used here: the Athletic Club (founded in 1880, so it's old) has a golf club (the Riviera Country Club) ... and that suit is appropriate for golfing. So there (sort of).
