What are you wearing today??

Widebrim

I'll Lock Up
Over the weekend the wife and I had a chance to go out for the evening.
My wife may kill me for posting this one. I really like the pic of her but we had just finished dinner and she had not reapplied her lipstick.

Then there's me...

As a parent it's really nice to have a night out from time to time.

Lipstick or not, you both look good. And I think that I recognize that tie...

Widebrim, yes indeed you should recognize that tie :) I've worn a few of them so far and will try to post some pics in the tie thread.

Also, thank you for the compliments.

My 40's linen pants have finally returned from the tailor and even though it was slightly colder today than it was on the previous days I just had to try them on, along with a linen shirt. Except for a panama I'm almost ready for the summer. ;)

Thanks! They were a risky purchase. I BINed them on ebay for considerably less than the seller originally intended, but then they've had some pretty heavy storage dirt, yellowing, marks from the hangers and what not. That's what 60 or 70 years of storage can do to a garment. 28 hours or so of repeated soakings in Vanish Oxiclean finally did the trick, even though it wasn't before almost 24 hrs had passed that they slowly began to look cleaner. They're perfect now. Lucky me! :D

Gene, are those modern Levi's? I've been wanting a pair, but wasn't sure of the fit.

Yep, modern Levi 501 shrink-to-fits. I upsized about 2 inches in the waist so they would shrink up a little. I did the classic "trick" and laid in a bathtub with them on and sure enough they shrank up almost a full 2 inches in the waist. I also get them about 6 inches to long because I like to roll them up.

Not the best picture, but it's a workwear kind of day 'round here. Royal Stetson, Penney's Army Twill shirt, Levi 501's, WWII Service Shoes.

Nice! Classic workwear's always a cool look. Any details on the hat? What brand, and what model?

Orgetorix, very refined. I also like your blog, it's definitely informative.

Gijoe, that is very classy mountain climbing gear, I hope it went well for you.

Hey all, no photo today..but wearing a navy vintage replica dress, looks late 40s, buttons down the front and has pockets. 50s black belt and heels, 50s costume jewellery and black hose with a heart back seam. On the way to work a man said to me ‘I’d like to know where the hearts lead to!’ How ungentlemanly!
