The rest of the day was my '50s db suit (those are the trousers) and a '30s tie, and inspired by the warm, sunny weather I brought out the boater for the first time this year. The collar is a tall double round, and inspired by a character from 42nd Street I wore it soft with a collar bar. I like the look, but collars this high need a bit more starch even when 'soft' to keep them from wrinkling, so I'll give that a try next time.

It was actually drizzling in Los Angeles today, so...Cortfield wool overcoat, styled for JW Robinson, woven in Hawick, Scotland (Glenburnie, "Noble Among Fabrics"); inside label has 195(?) printed on it. Early-40s SB, flat-front, brown pin stripe from Griffon Clothes. Bamboo Bold Look tie from Tru-Lov Cravats (was used by Palace Costume Co. in L.A.). All topped by my cherished Penney's Marathon fedora, bought when I was around 17 (and it was already at least 20 years old then).

Reign of Stripes

From a beautiful silk deco piece that alas I'm having to sell, to 70's or so deco stripes worn not on the Nile like a Poirot character would, but on the Frampton on Severn canal...Such is life.

Going deeper into the worl of weird...

The world of meager improvisation, that is, the kind that causes outbursts of laughter from school kids, perhaps rightly so :p
