I'm sort of going for the "James Dean wearing glasses" vibe today, because well, apparently I have to...

Photoon2011-07-14at18212.jpg

The glasses probably aren't too retro looking, but I think they suit my face more than very thick frames would. As for the rest, it's just a dress shirt and jeans, with oxford shoes and a belt, as it's usually typical for me.

Hmm, I've got to shave.
No Way! Talk about a flash back!
Kid you look like I did about 15 years and several injuries ago!!!

*cough* ahem. Nice dress.

But really, you made that? Without a pattern? On your first try? I can't even fold a dress shirt back into the stupid package right without some saleswoman discovering it and giving me a dirty look or telling me to leave the store. I hope someone pays you a lot of money for being awesome.

Hahahaa, thank you very much! I don't have any training as a seamstress but I've done all sort of handcrafting since I was a child, I guess that may have helped a bit :)

Yesterday, competing in the 2011 Chap Olympiad. I am here captured while competing in Not Playing Tennis, a match which I won by bribing the ball girl with a lollipop to play in my stead, and then proceeding to ignore the game while reading Dickens and listening to my gramophone. My shoes cannot be seen i this shot, but they are Rockt Originals co-respondents in brown and white:

If I saw these trousers on the rack I'd probably wince slightly while thumbing past them, but they totally work on you with that outfit. Looks sharp. It's got me thinking about what jacket would go with the ensemble. I think that a matching jacket really would be too much of that blue, but one in navy or midnight blue could be really nice. Great hat and shoes.

Thank-you, gentlemen. Regarding the 'tache, I too am of the mindset that it is the real thing or none at all. Many fine fellows in the true Chappist tradition have been and are clean shaven. A stick-on or otherwise artificial lip weasel, on the other hand, is the mark of a cad and a fake. Had I (and many others, for that matter) my way, all fake taches would be viciously ripped from the faces of those sporting them at the entrance, on pain of non-admittance! lol

This particular boater is a (from memory) Dunhill which I picked up on eBay for about twenty pounds, including the postage. I also have an Olney which I bought new (again, via an eBay dealer), for about GBP40, inclusive of postage. The blazer is from Charles Tyrwitt of Jermyn Street, reduced to half price in their Summer sale. Skeleton lined, Summer weight wool. Very pleased with it.

They're definitely bold but more versatile than you might think. I have a great cream linen jacket that will go well with them.

Yesterday at an unofficial Fedora Lounge event in Frankfurt.

I'm wearing an American post-war demob suit, 50s tie and modern two tone shoes. I think Floey's wearing a German 30s jacket, vintage tie and modern shirt and trousers made to a vintage pattern.

Yes, that's correct. One of the few german vintage ties I own. Most others are from the US. Shirt and slacks were made by Vecona.
There were also 3 ladies at the meeting but we ask them first to choose if they want to appear on the pictures.

We had a real nice day at Frankfurt. I was glad to meet you all there.
