I couldn't resist posting this. Only posting here due to the popularity of this thread. Please feel free to move onto better thread.

I came across this photograph on Etsy. Isn't he a dead ringer for Sproily?

Worn Thursday evening to dance classes and then again to church this morning; the dress length red-brown vintage 40s fur coat with the very square shoulders originally bought for my teen daughter, over a modern RL Chaps sleeveless navy and white print surplice knit dress with ruching at the left hip. Vintage wrist length navy blue gloves. The coat perfectly matched the length of the dress. My man really loved this coat on me, we met up at his house first before dance classes- so he saw it first ahead of the others in our dance classes. When I asked him if he liked it he enthusiastically said, "Who wouldn't!"

Still not fully recovered from my fractured toe, so this was worn with black high instep Zumba/dance sneakers.

Thank you. I almost went without the hat, as I'm usually more self-conscious about wearing it around family and relatives (not cousins though), but wearing it was a rewarding experience. I could count three different compliments on it. Oh, and I've got some serious spring cleaning to do...

I feel the same way, I always wear my hat, but if I am going out with family or going to visit extended family, I leave the hat in my truck.

Yeah... I'm thinking today if anything, is inspiring me to wear hats more often, at least this one. I like my brown Federation IV, but it feels a bit costume-like at times, since the style is so very associated with Indiana Jones (I've never got any such references with my grey hat). Not that there's anything wrong with Dr. Jones himself, though, he's just a really cool (and widely regarded as so) fictional character that virtually everyone seems to have heard of at some point. I'll wear this hat more often for hiking, fishing, and hunting, outdoors activities like these.

Be glad to be associated with Indy, I get associated with Archie Bunker. I think it's the beer gut and plaid jacket with a brown fedora lol.

Sure! I do enjoy receiving Indiana Jones comments, I mean, it brings a grin or smirk to my face at times, and I say thanks. Usually it's about how the hat is cool. But I don't really want to be getting them all the time I wear that same hat. There have even been quite a number of non-Indy related compliments to off-set this, fortunately. I find that if I go for more of, for lack of a better word, the "gangster" look (essentially "smart casual" dress with a hat in my case), basically a sport coat, dress shirt and tie with slacks, I'll get the Indy/adventurer vibe going on even less. I rarely dress like that going out with my family unless it's a special occasion though, as wearing that getup while everyone else is more casual will look a little weird. I think everyone's still getting used to seeing me in a hat, and over the past year, it's become more well-known among the relatives that I do wear one to the parties most of the time. I just don't want to over-do it, as I'm still transitioning my style to gradually incorporate the sport coat and tie look more often, and eventually, suits. I don't own any of the latter myself, but for what it's worth, I can fit into my younger brother's polyester black suit.

I've gotten some out there comparisons, too. I thought Crocodile Dundee was a little out there, myself. I get Capone too quite a bit. They were known for being stylish guys, even if they were terrible criminals, so, in a way, it's kind of a compliment I guess.

Without intending to actually "hijack" the thread that much further, I've got to say, I do think the old-time gangsters were very stylish figures in history. Their style is relevant enough to the modern world that it isn't yet ridiculously dated, even though it's prone to stereotyping. In fact, it would be a lie for me to deny it; I got into fedora hats mostly because of the gangster look (I'm a huge Godfather/mafia film fan). I first saw The Godfather trilogy in all it's entirety back in 2006 or so, and I have been fascinated by it ever since (even buying and playing the spin-off video game series, which lets you customize your own mobster, complete with period accurate attire). I do like the adventurer/Indy look of that era though too, which is why I got that Fed IV to satiate my thirst, so to speak, for sporting a variation of that look from time to time.

Anyway, less talk, more pics/discussion of them, maybe...
