I went casual today, for a stroll in my district's summer festival, with its traditional theme-decorated streets.

Do pardon my hair, as it is just a royal mess! :(
Dress is of 1942. So far as I can tell, it has not been restored and is in gorgeous condition.

Forgive me if I'm being forward, Ms. Rachell, but I don't see anything to apologize for--so you're not "period perfect", it just says you have a life to live and sometimes your "compromise point" is a little different than others depending on your situation's needs--and that stray strand hanging down next to your face is kinda cute.;)

Orgetorix,
Looking good and great to see you post in the thread. I like the length of jacket cuff and shirt cuff. I aspire to that but one is always too long or too short...

Torpedo,
As always looking mid-century cool.

Grant Fan,
Wow as always!

Rachel,
Welcome, and quite lovely looks in both.

Steve,

Thats a great hat, I'd like to get one like that. I need a 1950s era not quite stingy, but smaller than my 1940s styled one.

Gene,
Man, you always look relaxed and good (even in that vicar's outfit ;) )

Dinnerman,
Nicely put together outfit (good to see a brolly as well)

Hmm I hope I didn't leave anyone out... Sorry if I did...

Golly, thank you Diamondback. As a gal, the hair is of course what the most time in getting dolled up is traded for, and often with limited time, I do agree that compromise is in effect. I appreciate the kind words!

Lottie, thank you doll. Pleased that you are familiar with H2O :)

Chasseur, darling thing to say. Thank you.

I believe the term for your situation might be "Practical Vintage"--following the style to the extent that your life's situations allow. And "Practical", in my lexicon, is a pretty high-value compliment, and a similar-level attractive quality.

Says a guy who deliberately maintains a perpetually-frazzled "I have only one nerve left and YOU'RE GETTING ON IT" hairstyle and general look... lol my av? That was a really good hair day.

My recently acquired late 40's bold look suit (made by Sewell Clothes) returned from the tailor today. What a good opportunity to take another photo...! :D I modified the image again to give it that slightly vintage look but this time I also added the original so that you have an idea of the true color.

Thanks! I lucked out with that suit (and its twin in a mid-gray herringbone with blue windowpane). They fit like that straight off the consignment store rack.

Went to a dedication today and I was asked by the organizer to wear morning dress. What hardship! ;) Always looking for excuses to wear tails!

Forgive the wind making my trousers look like a bad case of static cling...
