I posted a pic a few days back with the only real vintage I had in the pic was the 40's purse I was carrying, and I said that in the post's title. Days later the pic ended up deleted (I'm assuming by the bartenders?).

We don't delete photos unless they are out of bounds somehow (copyright issues, or tastefulness). Something else must have happened. Can you please PM me and show me the post?

It snowed again today.

If I'm going to comment I guess I might as well add a picture. I've been doing a daily self portrait project since the first of the year and here's today's contribution as inspired by all you fine folks.
I've been doing the same, in fact that is where this picture came from! To be honest I posted not because I wanted to display what I was wearing but because I like how that photograph turned out. Thanks for the kind words! And may I add, that hat really suits you!

Thanks to The Shooman as well for the compliment.

chanteuseCarey- I've not heard that before about faux lamb jackets! Mine has gotten wet, snowed on rather, several times with no unpleasant consequences and I am positive it is fake. That jacket was a lucky find, $12 at Salvation Army and fake or not, perhaps I should see to it that I take better care of it.

Thank you FL bartender scotrace, who got this figured out! Apparently, it was a Picture Trail problem! Here it is again... So I wasn't in trouble after all-whew:p

This is a typical modern look for me in pants, and the outfit o' the day. I didn't add any accessories for a change or even a jacket except for a deco inspired new Coach watch, and my anniversary gift favorite pearl and ruby jacket earrings. This was cuz' I was going window shopping at Nordy's to try on the new Spring fashions from Ralph Lauren just for fun and didn't want to take off all the accessories again and again.

The little vintage purse is authentic crocodile made in Mexico. I found it at the Vintage Fashion Expo last weekend. Love it... I'm not a purse kind of gal- actually for years I haven't carried a purse, just a checkbook size wallet. But vintage purses are just too cute!

Even though the sweater is new from RL last year, it is a basic classic style short cotton one that makes me think 1940's sweater girl. Hey, that's my story and I'm stickin' with it! Its almost too warm here now to keep wearing wool trousers, these are true at the natural waist ones bought in 2003 at Nordstrom. These RL classic trousers have served me well for all these years, and are so great, that I have them in three colors. I bought these originally as a size 12 but had them recut to a size 8 when I lost weight a number of years back. When one pair finally wears out, I'm gonna have them cut apart at the seams and have a pattern made from them. The blue fax croc belt is new RL. The red basic Nordstrom pumps are probably 20+ years old, I've got these in three colors too. Every few years I just send them off to the shoe repair to have them repaired, repolished and made like new again. New vintage style Playtex brassierre and new Rago Shapette high waist girdle as foundation pieces.

Slim, you've got a kinda neat "Bruce Willis gone '20s-'30s" vibe goin' on there--not like Last Man Standing with the stingy-brim (which I didn't think looked that great anyway), but more like "if Willis joined The Untouchables or mobbed up". Half expected to see you accessorize with a shoulder-holster... Nicely done!

Kools, well done--although this shows that "not to be trifled with" look I had previously referred to even more. Could you spare some pointers?

I actually am in the market and have it narrowed down to two. When I decide and it is delivered, I'll post pics in the appropriate thread.

black sleeve garters
:eek:fftopic: but I'm curious, what purpose do these serve (please excuse what may seem an idiotic question)? I like your outfits SP, though I go for a more simplified look myself (usually just a suit with few accessories, my grey Stetson Chatham, my coat and if I need more accessories my gun).

My goodness this is fantastic, the suit, the hat, everything. I especially like the watch, it just really sets it all off. Well done.

If there isn't a wikipedia article for absolutely everything...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeve_garter

A classic example of their use would be by newspaper typesetters to keep their sleeves out of inky situations.

Mighty fine SP...

Terrrific look, its great to see a well dressed man these days, they seem so rare... sigh.

Where does one find a chesterfield these days??

I once had a townhouse roommate who dressed fabulous every day. He dressed for the future job he aspired to, not the one he currently had. He hired me (as I sew) to sew suspender buttons onto 4 pairs of his trousers. He was far better dressed than the women he dated! He was quite the snappy dresser, he should have gotten into hats too. Maybe by this time he has...
