Western, anyone?

Stetson Nutria arrived. Color appears is more Natural as opposed to brown. Tagged 7 1/8 long oval, 3" brim bashed to a low profile telescope of 3 3/4". Embroidered Liner and sweat appear almost like new, no stains, leather is very, very soft and buttery. Stetson crest has the stars (no maple leaf) orange elongated inventory tag is older style that dates between 1930 - 1940. ??? Very minty hat. Now onto brushing, steaming, and straightening out the little lumps & bumps and cleaning up the crease around the telescope. Very excited about this find.

And don’t forget bulletproof. I find this hat to be the best of both western and fedora worlds. I’d go so far to say the best all around hat looking at all categories combined imho. I keep mine near the door and probably grab it most often unless i have a motive for others.
I can’t say enough about the ORish, embroidered horse rider liner Nutria.
Yeah, i like it. It’s a top ten’er to me.

Yeah, that's a stunner - I looked closely at it a few times even though it was way small for me - If it was bigger it would have been a battle. Great buy.

Love the 4 dents - This looks like a very old hat in mint condition. Beautiful work by the hatmaker and great photos by the hat owner.

This is not a thread I post in a lot (I don't have a lot of westerns). Stumbled upon this little gem by accident. Tom Mix visited Amsterdam and Berlin in 1925 and this is footage of these visits. Loads of hats on view here. Unfortunately no sound. Enjoy.

Very cool film. Very cool hats, not just Mix's. I am bit surprised at his popularity. I was not aware that western movie stars were so well received in Europe so early in the movie era.

My 1987 Ritch Rand 10X. Chocolate brown, 3-1/4" BE brim with 3-cord ribbon. Originally creased as a Rancher before I creased it as a 4-Dent based off a diamond. This hat has been worn a lot & beginning to show its age. Two yrs after buying this off the shelf I would order my black Tom Horn from Ritch.

Great look, HJ. I like chocolate brown in a hat but haven't owned one since I sold my Whippet. What's the crown height? The BE is a bit wider but the brim shape and dimensions, 3 ply ribbon are close to the specs on my Rolnick.

What's the crown height?

Had to measure it, it's 5" at the front dip & 5-1/4" at the side dent breaks. So open crown it would probably be ~5-3/4".

Thanks Perry. I think a 3" & 3-1/4" symmetrical brim is about perfect. I hate today's 3-1/2 - 4" dimensional guitar pick & shovel brims.

The 3-cord is brown & the binding is a milk chocolate brown but can photograph lighter like an antique gold or something. I think the chocolate brown of the hat causes the camera to underexpose the ribbon & binding.

Taupe colored Beaver Brand OR clone for a few minutes this morning to feed livestock. No name on it but it was sold at the Westerner in Flagstaff so maybe I'll just call it the Westerner!
