That's interesting about a retailer named Westerner. Resistol registered & trademarked the term Westerner very early. No name on it but it was sold at the Westerner in Flagstaff so maybe I'll just call it the Westerner!

I have a recently acquired Beaver Brand OR clone like that. Almost an identical color. The box calls it Adobe. Mine came originally from The Western Shoppe in Smith's Grove, KY, according to the stamp in the sweat. It's not "white fur" just "imported fur".Taupe colored Beaver Brand OR clone for a few minutes this morning to feed livestock. Thanks Cuz. I had read that Langenberg had officially changed the name of the company to Beaver Brand in 2000, but this hat is certainly older than that, so I guess they'd been producing them with that name for much longer. Couldn't find any info on how long.Nice snag, Cuz. What a great color. I couldn't put a date on it for anything. But I would think that at that price point with such a nice sweat with a big vapor barrier, its got a few years on it.

I was under the impression it wasn't that old of a hat, but just now I was looking under the sweat and found a price tag for $25.95. It's no top of the line lid, but I imagine it's been a few years since any fur felt hat could be had for that cheap.

That looks so good I might lust less over those bikini pictures you distracted us with a couple of days ago.
Hate is a strong word, HJ, but we're on the same page, methinks. Thanks Perry. I think a 3" & 3-1/4" symmetrical brim is about perfect. I hate today's 3-1/2 - 4" dimensional guitar pick & shovel brims.
Inflation adjusted dollars, but I didn't come to the Lounge to advocate ending the Fed and returning to the gold standardI have a recently acquired Beaver Brand OR clone like that. Nice!! Great crease on that one. I can't believe it's sweater weather in TX yet. Summertime is still full throttle down here.Tatton Baird with lightweight Bavarian sweater this morn.

My porch thermometer was at 67 this morning. It will rise quickly, but for a brief time I get to wear some sweaters. Trying to rush the colder weather to get here. Yeah, I could get by without it, but added a nice accent to the Tatton.Nice!! Great crease on that one. I can't believe it's sweater weather in TX yet. Summertime is still full throttle down here.

Looks like you nailed it to me, BB! Great job!I've been pulling out my westerns over the last 3 weeks or so and for the most part, I've changed the profile on nearly every one as I steamed and refreshed them for cooler weather, if it ever gets here. Still have a few to go and I'll post them as I go along.
This No. 1 Quality may have seen the most radical change. It's my only 4 dent that I converted from a rancher's crease. I enjoyed it as it was but after HJ posted his Worth-Walden recently, I had to change this one. I told Jack I plagiarized his hat, and I did my best. I lowered the front and raised the rear to the crown's limits. 4 in the front and 5 1/2 in the rear. I did a 1/4' curl on the brim with a slight draw to the front.
