Couple of quick shots of a new hat of mine from Havstad Hat Company. This one is kind-of a modified Gus that Cate made for me. This color is one she dyes herself using desert sage.

That's a beauty. I've never seen one in person.
There used to be almost monthly, then quarterly Western memorabilia auctions around here but now we're down to only one or two a yr, & you have to drive 200 miles to get to those. I remember a similar leather hat case going thru one of those auctions a long time back.

When I saw these pics I thought of Mike Barranti and how much he might charge to create something like this... $$$$
I was wondering how many hundreds of hrs would go into the leather carving.

In the Spring of 1950.....the Stetson Open Road was a hat anybody would be proud to wear...East or West......

A litte over 10 years later in the Fall of 1960 we find that the Stetson Open Road is THE "Hat of the West"!!!! And the best selling Western of all time......perhaps the sales to those in the East helped out.;)

It really is a wonderful, flexible, snap brim wonder, that really does go with everything!
