False or real it is still an image that has always shaken me since I was a boy and listened or read stories of the war.
This man, -other than the webbing, gun and hat- is just an ordinary man like any other that when I was a kid could be seen in any village of Spain (nowadays global fashion has changed how people look like). Workers, peasants, shepherds, just men sitting in a tavern smoking, playing dominoes after a days work. Hard men, tough looking, but fathers, sons or husbands of someone.
When I see this man I feel he's a relative of mine back in the village.
It has all the spirit of how sad a war is, and how sadder a civil war is.
