Vintage Inspired Outfits

I've noticed a trend in blog-land of ladies putting together composites of ideal outfits and such. I have found this a great way to find new shops and open my fashion tastes a bit more. With that, I thought it would be interesting for the ladies of the lounge to composite their own outfit composites of vintage inspired clothes. I'm suggesting these composites stick to new clothes rather than vintage so that other ladies have the opportunity to construct the outfits and be opened to new shops.

I'll kick it off with a 1930s showgirl look!

• Kiss curl cocktail hat from Kiss Curl Millinery.

• High-waisted suspender pencil skirt from Go Go Retro. I was never a fan of the high-waisted suspender skirt, until I saw it on a friend of mine and it looked fabulous (and so wonderfully 1930s).

• Tamera Shirt from Forever 21. (They have so many keen blouses lately!)

• Tease heels from Poetic Licence (or Savoy pumps from Remix Vintage).

I'm excited to see what you ladies come up with!

Maybe you'll get lucky and it will be on sale. And I think with your coloring, that dress would look awesome for spring and summer.

That is one beautiful outfit!

I would say you have perfectly nailed it for 1930 to 1931 (the hat would change in 32) and it's all so well done. The right kind of shoes and bag and all.
My fedora is off to you!

And Sarah, you'll want to check out the Dover paperback books series, "Everyday Fashions of the 20s " and 30s and 40s volumes too - you will soon see that there is really four separate looks in the 20s and 30s.
Here's a little primer off the top of my head...

Early 20s: Blousey, longish barrel skirted, drop-waisted dresses and large hats, still looks very "Titanic"
Late 20s: Short skirts, drop waists or no waist at all, flatchested sillouette, cloche hats down over the eyebrows, flapper styles
Early 30s: Bias cut, clingier fabrics, longish skirts, ruffles and femininity, the natural waistline returns, off the forehead cloches and much smaller hats
Late 30s: Mid calf to knee length skirts, usually A-line, stronger shoulders, more tailoring, stronger fabrics, fancier hats and absurd ones!
