Vintage Disney in size marked 7 1/2. Beautiful auburn brown high beaver content fur felt . Nice rolled felted brim edge is 2 7/8. Open crown is 6". Excellent silk ribbon is 1 5/8. Brown wind cord. Only flaw is sweatband seam is split, and sweat is dry,other than that it is stitched in to hat solidly. Lot of high quality hat here for the right person.
I can put in a new sweat if desired for nominal fee or wear it as is.
Asking 225. Comes with vintage hat box in decent shape.

Lovely Disney hat, Scott, but I wonder how you are able to discern the percentage of beaver fur in the mix?

Morning Alan , that's a good qs. How does one estimate the percent of beaver in a vintage hat that is in marked?
Its similar to the way a grosgrain ribbon or a vintage liner belies whether or not there is any silk in it VS polyester or rayon or cotton, purely by feel.
I am going by my intuition and handling many fur felt hats including beaver felt hats both new and vintage.
Also when I washed the dirt off of this one with a damp rag it cleaned up and reacted to being wet in a way beaver hats react when wet vs a rabbit blend felt which reacts differently.
Could be the density of felt too as this one is really a fine felt . So to answer your qs Alan its speculation in my part and I am only trying to describe the hat with my limited knowledge of vintage hats .
But please share your unequivocal thoughts by all means if you want to describe this hat in a better light.

I've owned Disney 20s and 40s and I am aware of the range of felt characteristics displayed in these and other hats of this era but when it comes to the fur content of the felts (even in cases where "beaver" is mentioned inside the hat) my thoughts are more prone to being equivocal. My apologies if it is inappropriate to comment on such matters in a classified ad.

Bump. I put a new roan leather sweatband this morning as the original was too dry rotted, (measures 23 1/2) it will come with hat to who ever buys it along with hat box. To clarify my thoughts about the felt in my excitement of handling this hat I misspoke about beaver content what I should have said is that its a very dense felt that's finely finished and has a wonderful hand and has similar qualities that reminds me of beaver felt. My apologies for that.
Felt is spotless without stains, no moth, no odors , a real clean , quality vintage hat that's ready to wear and enjoy by a 7 1/2 wearer.
