I checked the Westlake Promenade in Westlake (Thousand Oaks, California) and found none at all. Checked at the info desk and was escorted to where they were supposed to be. Info girl had to get up on a stool to look for them and there were none to be found. None on the towers at all. She concluded that they had all been sold. Very possible as this is a very affluent area; I will check again next month. She DID say they came in on the 19th of last month, if that is of any help....

Store #2084 Aurora, CO Across from Aurora Mall. 02/05/07. Went to purchase a copy. Found it in the Men's Interest Section, second row. Not visible. Moved the several copies a bit to make them visible. 02/11/07. After reading this thread, I went back. Copies same place in the Men's interest section. On the power column, half dozen copies. Great read. This issue's a keeper.

Store #2554 on Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO. 02/11/07. Found it in the Men's Interest Section, second row. Visible. On the power column, half dozen copies. Facing toward window by main entrance.

Finally bought my copy at a B&N on S. Virginia St. in Reno. Can't say which one. The magazine was buried in the men's interest section but was in the profile column. Great magazine.

The Barnes & Noble store at Center Valley, Pennsylvania, had the magazine in one of its "power columns" (the column was labeled "this month's picks") but NO COPIES in the Men's Interest section.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for my copy to arrive - my credit card was charged last month - and two emails to the magazine have both bounced back to me.

What gives?

Since e-mail is not working for you, I suggest you call the subscription department: 800-805-6648.

They are not members of this board and will never see your inquiry here. ;)

The B&N #2250 at Jonesboro Arkansas, home of Arkansas State University had Classic Style in the Lifestyle section and the power tower.
I had to buy another mag because when I thumbed through it I noticed it had different ads in it than the one I recieved in the mail.[huh]
SO I now have two issues!:D

They have it in the Men's Interest section on the middle shelf, which is about belly-level. I had to bend down to see it, but it's there. I didn't find it on any of the towers.

I forgot to mention that #1944 in San Jose has Classic Style at eye level, facing an aisle approaching the periodicals. Much better location than the back corner, mid-level in Redwood City.

Stopped at the Boulevard Mall (Maryland Parkway Store) the other day and stopped in the B&N there, I didn't see it at the mens interest area. Didn't see any other mags anywhere else. I may be stopping by there again tomorrow, if so I will check again and report back.

As most of you know, we have published the premiere issue of Classic Style magazine. We have entered into an agreement with Barnes & Nobles for them to carry it in all 700 of their USA stores. Under this agreement, Classic Style is supposed to be in two places in the stores. It is to be in the men's interest section and in what they call the "power column". That is a premium position that is basically a post about five feet high with magazines on four sides.

We are paying several thousand dollars for this in order to get Classic Style out there. The promotion started January 28th and should run the month of February.

Truth be told I could couldn't care less about the power column. I never look at those "special sections"....except the ones by the cash register. Our goal is to have it in the men's interest area. I always go straight to the section I am interested in...and I suspect most people do the same. I stopped by our local B&N yesterday and discovered it was in the power column but not in the men's interest section. Not good.

Here is where I need your help: I can't visit 700 stores to varify they are following through. I need you to be the eyes and ears in your area. It would be a huge help if you could visit B&N stores in your area and check the men's interest and power column to see if Classic Style is there.

Please post in this thread what you find. We need to know the store number, city, state and the date you were there. Tell us if it is one, both or not at all.

This will help our magazine. If Classic Style is a big hit, it will further our cause of companies creating the kinds of clothes, luggage, furnature that we love. Also small companies that already make the wonderful goods we enjoy will receive a greater audience. I really do believe we can make a difference.

Thank you for your support! I am grateful for your help.

Dublin, CA and San Francisco SOMA does not carry the Classic Style mag. I looked and was thoroughly disappointed. When asked if they carry CS, they said no.

FYI.

Store #2725, Oklahoma City. I picked CS up on Feb. 14. It was on the top portion of the Men's Interest section but I did not see it on any other end rack spot. Great magazine.

Update: Barnes and Nobel on Rt in Saugus, MA has the magazine on middle, upper tier shelf in Mens section. Also, as hoped, on a Power Column in the same area (I actually didn't expect to see this.....)

Store 2160, W.Main Rd, Middletown RI. I just visited today, February 18th. I actually went nuts looking for it in the men's interest section, and couldn't find it there. I didn't see anything recognizable as a "power column" near the magazine section either.

So...I gave up and got a coffee at the Starbucks located on the premises. On the way out the door, "BAM!" right in front of me, a power column with Classic Style on it. This actually made my day, as I was looking forward to checking it out. I just got in now, and still haven't gotten to read it over.

To summarize: It wasn't in the Men's Interest section, it was on a power column though.

B&N in Tanasbourne, OR had it in the Men's Interest section. Looked a bit funny hidden behind skin mags, so I moved it to the front.

Near The Great Lakes Mall. Don't have the store number, sorry. But the mag was tucked in the "Lifestyles" section of the magazine racks. A very general sort of category with everything from girly mags like FHM, to PC mags, and art mags. Not in any point of purchase displays or other separate racks in the store. :(
Only 2 copies were left on the rack though so that is maybe a good indication of how well it is being received here?

Men's interest section, 2nd shelf, top right. Unfortunately I had to bend down to see it, the first shelf, with all the adult mags, covers the top half of the second shelf, too many clerks lurking around for me to move them. Sorry I don't know the store number, I was there today Feb. 20 1:00pm
