Like the Heron in black, the style gives it a whole different non-biker twist, which is very attractive.

The Arcadia is beautiful. I'm under the impression he no longer makes the Arcadia.

The hide on the Buco J-100 is really nice. Is that HH?

Looks like the Japanese hides that GW and I believe HImel use. Awesome looking stuff! I believe it's from the Shinki tannery in Japan.

Grayland, yes it's 3oz veg tanned Horween horse. Nice grainy stuff, huh?

I updated the original post- the J100 is Diamond Dave's, but its my understanding that he an John Chapman both use the same pattern

As far as pattern, they may all be different so fit should be the first concern, but the hide on McCoy's J-100 is the Shinki semi-analine finished veggie tanned 1.3mm HH. amazing stuff! Unlike others I've seen from Himel/ Chapman/ DiamondDave, the McCoys J-100 has the protective heft that this garment is known for in its prime!

J-22 and J-100 are my two favorites when it comes to HH, and from the McCoys, no doubt! Seems like everyone's bringing back the J-100 or their version of it. The best I've seen is the Real McCoys. Its pattern is closest to the originals, it's hardware is actually NOS vintage, and the Button is signed "Buco" as per the originals. Rayon lining instead of Nylon is about the only difference against the originals. Nevertheless, it's the best out there, but at a huge premium to boot!

J-100 first, J-22 second

Fav is the J-100 for all around use, it almost works in any setting formal to casual. The J-22 is simply badass with a refined vintage look, that D-pocket sets it apart. The details, materials, and cut make all the difference, however. Some makes have that thin drapey look ala "mall jacket". The best have all the details accurately reproduced, down to the thickness of the leather used for the chest pocket zipper windflaps and thickness and construction of the collar. And the attention to detail on the best models goes all the way to the accurately reproduced size tag and maker label.

Love the grain. I'm leaning goatskin for the grain, but if I knew the HH would be grainy like that, I would choose the HH.

Do you really think so? I love cafe racers, but I see them being a bit more limited. I would think the Arcadia would be more versatile.

The J-22 is very cool, but I don't think I could pull it off. I would feel like such a poser...or the lost Ramone brother.

The HH GW and Himel use does have amazing grain. It's 1.1-1.2mm and has great character. I believe 767fo also posted some shots of his new Himel in the same Japanese hide. This is the one I just finished my order for.

>A collared jacket seems more versatile for regular use, I would agree, I just like the little collars, personal preference.

> I've thought about this myself and I own two diagonal zip jackets, The J-22 may be the ultimate, but definitely have to be in a certain mood to wear it. Seeing it in real life however, is something else, it is an appreciation for the craft more so than the applicability in modern settings. I will let you all know the first time I actually wear mine, it was tried on merely once and is hanging in a garment bag in my closet. It smells oh so gooood!

Please forgive my ignorance, but could someone give me the website for the Mark Fisher Aviator? I think I'm in love.

Hey Butte-
I see the Ventura you were trying out is up on John's sale page...How would you rate the blue rayon lining for our California weather? I'm thinking of that one or a cotton plaid in mine.
Thanks

Awesome! I loved it, but blue would only go with black, IMO. I was going to do burgundy Rayon on the one I ordered, but I changed to the wool lining as below. I changed from black HH to the dark seal like the one above. So, this plaid should do nicely. The blue rayon is peachy for Cali weather!

It is a hell of a nice pattern, trust me. The pictured jacket is actually one he made for me, but unfortunately was cut about a size too small. He is in the process of remaking it for me, but in John Chapman's dark seal goatskin... Can't wait!!!!!
