If they don't come out I'll put more holes on the sweatband, burn the stains, and call it "distressed"A crying shame about the sweatband. But such a sweet lid and case.

Freaking gorgeous is what it is!I picked this up yesterday. It's a Superfine from the 50s - I think. It doesn't have the plastic headliner covering but still think it's from the 50s. Anybody think differently? This is a bit unusual in that the brim is a bit wide at 2" on the front/back and 1 3/4" on the sides. Also, the top seem to be more flat than most derbys I've seen.

This one used to be Alan's, and the first pictures are his. The seller I bought it from uncurled the brim. I will decide later if I want to put it back on.

So do I! Such a lovely hat with that brim curve. It's not like the aren't any regular brimmed black hats around.I hope you can get it back.
They ruined it......The seller I bought it from uncurled the brim.

Max, the original hat was marvellous and I hope you can back again have the brim in the original shape. This one used to be Alan's, and the first pictures are his. The seller I bought it from uncurled the brim. I will decide later if I want to put it back on.
I will, Daniele. My Mom used to sayMax, the original hat was marvellous and I hope you can back again have the brim in the original shape.
The conversion made è orribile! But you know tastes are tastes (Italian: i gusti sono gusti, read it with irony)
All the best Max for the original ri-conversionI will, Daniele. My Mom used to say
"There is no accounting for taste--or the lack of it."
There must be more Knox hats out there, but not posted here. They deserve better, because I think they made very fine hats indeed. Here's one of two I've added to the collection.
Knox Twentyfive in a cream/ivory colour. Bound brim at 7,5cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. Some small moth nips here and there, but other than that in great shape. Brim is quite wide for my tastes, but I suspect it can count on the approval of several fellow members here. I can honestly say I'm very pleased with it.
