Chesterfield Adventure Hat

Tom,

Here is another one for your list. It is not exactly an Open Road style hat because of the western style 3-cord ribbon but the bow and dimensions are very close. This is a recent Ebay acquisition. I can't find much information about Chesterfield Hats but this is a very nice hat. The felt is very soft with a nice supple sweatband. It is a 7 1/2 Long Oval and fits me like a glove. It feels like I have been wearing it for years and I'm sure it is going to get a lot of use.

That is indeed a nice hat Landman. I like the musketeer on the logo.

Thanks. It is a rather unusual logo. At first I thought it might have some relationship to the cigarette company but the logos are different. The only reference to Chesterfield Hats I could find on the lounge was a picture of a Chesterfield hat box somebody posted several years ago. It didn't have a hat with it though and looked much older than this box. It looked more like the old Disney hat boxes with color scenes on it so I guess Chesterfield Hats were around for quite awhile. I have no evidence to prove it but this hat looks like late 1950's to early 1960's to me. If anybody knows anything about Chesterfield Hats please let me know. Thanks.

Wow! That might very well be the only Chesterfield hat in existence. Very nice indeed. I'll be on the lookout for that brand. Everything about it says quality. Nicer than the Lee Adventure even, I think. Congratulations on a great find. :eusa_clap

Thanks. If you do find another Chesterfield hat I'd love to see it. To me, the logo and brand name seem more appropriate for a different style of hat rather than a western hat.

Very cool Wormser. I agree with Tom though, it reminds me more of a Stratoliner than an Open Road. Of course there is not much difference between the two but with "Airliner" stamped on the sweat I think they were trying to compete with the Stratoliner.

However, I have a black Wormser that is an exact copy of an Open Road. Mine looks to be newer than yours with the Cattleman's crease installed at the factory. I'm not sure about the age of mine but it looks to me to be late 1960's or 1970's. I'll try to take some pictures of it.

Lucked out on an Ebay deal and picked up a Resistol Waco OR clone for a song. Has a stiff brim and a soft crown. Arrived with a cattleman's crease but I decided to try out a fedora crease. I had no idea it was a Waco until I looked behind the sweatband and found the original tag. This hat is a little more special to me, as I actually live in Waco. Pretty neat find.
