A few more western style cloths in some areas of Cali than in others. But then again, anything goes around here these days.
:)
Hey Brent:
If you don’t like how you think you look in a CC why don’t you try snapping the brim down for a head shot? I’ve found some CC hats like that (or flat). They just take some getting used too especially when used to down in front fedoras. Then they grow on you. Just a thought.

I’ll have to give that a try. I’m looking at getting a Royal DeLuxe OR in sage that I’ll try brim down with the CC.

7 5/8 6X just arrived. Stiff as a board and a little big on me. :)

Whew! So you can leave the 7 5/8s to me!

These are very stiff hats as they are made from the same felt as their westerns. If you want to get one that’s softer, without hoping for a vintage in our larger sizes, you should look at the newer Royal DeLuxe hats from the City line.

I think a Sage OR with a brownish ribbon and brim trim would just about bake my cake!! Wish they made vintage ones like that.
Lotsa pics when you get it Brent!!
Oh yeah...do you have an OR limit...yet?

No limit...as long as you don’t tell my wife.

I’d buy the today if it had an extra 1/2” of crown. I think it will be an outlet buy as soon as one shows up there. Until then I’ll make do with a Premier Stratoliner in the same color scheme albeit with the 2 1/2” brim.

I just posted this over in "What hat are you wearing today", but thought I might share here. Open Road Panama? No such label but looks much like it.

Today I snagged this hat at an estate sale for $5. Stetson "Genuine Panama". Size 7 3/8. Originally made for the Karner Phillips Department Store in Mexia, TX. It seems like an Open Road in style, though the name not present. Brim is 2 3/4".

Does anyone out there want to take a shot at model and possible year?

That's a nice Panama. As Michael said, my size as well. We sometimes wrestle over hats. Is the size tag square? If so, maybe a mid 60's-early 70's? Those in nice shape are hard to come by.

Open Road? Some here say if it's not labeled an OR then it is in fact, not an OR. An OR would have a bound brim. What you have is a Panama where someone painstakingly wove the ends back into the brim edge giving it that nice finished look. Wouldn't want to cover that up. Its an OR or cattleman styled Panama with OR dimensions. Ever tire of it you can watch Michael and I fight over it.

Haha! I'm over in another thread arguing with @Wyldkarma over what is and isn't an OR "style." However, doesn't Stetson, at least currently, market panamas with unbound brims as ORs?

Yes, squared size tag with union stamp on back. Those pics are on the feed in the other forum.
Thanks for the knowledge. I’m pretty sure it’s 60s and definitely OR dimensions. I’m not planning to get tired of it anytime soon but I’ll keep you fellas in mind!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I picked this up recently and thought I'd post pics after I shaped the crown. I've got a question regarding the front of the brim: My preferred style of wearing the hat is with the brim up however I think on occasion I might like to wear it with the brim down; is it ok to switch back and forth or is it better just to pick one style and leave the brim like that? Will switching back and forth over time somehow lead to a floppy front brim that won't look good either way?
