I got this OR on ebay, the seller listed it as 1950's or 1960's I dont think is that old, but it does look vintage, any help to date it will be appreciated.

After mentioning I was looking at vintage OR's to acquire, the wife surprises me with a brand new Stetson OR for Fathers Day! So, as you understand, I'll be wearing it. It's not vintage, but good looking none the less and I'm very thankful.

Question. I can snap down the front a little making it flat, but when I stand out in the heat for a while, it pops back up.

Can I put steam on it and form it to stay down flat in the front?

Steam, patience, and some persistent working of the brim should eventually bring it under control. The new ones are quite stiff, so they require that persistence.

Mine is from the late 70s or (most likely) early 80s. That pattern in the hat liner is quite modern I believe.

My Size , too . Mine is a 150th Anniversary 6X , but like Card Board , and actually too large (almost a 7 1/2) , but I'm going to see what can be done . I've jacked it up messing with the Crown , I need a Pro , I think .

Cap , you can actually snap it down without using steam , pretty sure . Just snap it and run you fingers along the Brim , once you get about half way , or so , it should stay down . Not really Flat , though , but not Gangstered Out (Really Down) either .

My 6x Open Road is quite stiff also, but by gently bending the brim it has softened some, and will lay flat. Now my Open Road in the Royal felt from DelMonico is VERY soft. Two different hats entirely, to me. Also, about $50 price difference.

They have several sizes right now. They are listed under Stetson Western Hats. I don't know that they've always been listed there.

You're very welcome! I'm glad to help out.
I'm interested to see the Open Road in Caribou. My Stetsonian is Caribou and it's a great color. It goes well with black, gray, navy, and even jeans.
