Wasn't sure where to post this, I figured this was closest. It vaguely reminded me of the one red dress BegintheBeguine purchased from Miss_Bella_Hella.
This is the one that got away for my daughter anyway. She has been into formals so much lately, like she has any where other than here pageant next month to where one, plus she already has the one she is going to where, plus a few others that were marked redicously low at thrift shops. If she were going to the Academy Awards or Grammys, I would have gotten her this gone and had it altered to fit her (it was about 2 sizes 2 big, to her its nothing a few safety pins can't fix, her answer for everyting lol).

I have it on good authority that there are plus size dresses, shoes and great hats over at Specialist Auctions that rival what you have all been bidding on over at Ebay. Most sellers there also offer the "have a haggle" which is make an offer. Many of the sellers there have sold or still do sell on Ebay.

$260 Pattern!

Hi Girls,

I was watching a lovely Vogue evening frock pattern from the 30s on the bay last night. Bidding was up to around $50 when I went to bed. Number 290111220684 went for $260! I know it's a Special Design but still! Sorry I can't post a picture, it was an Auctiva, but if you put in the ebay number at ebay you'll be able to see the pattern.

heavens. That seems a bit on the high side. The dress doesn't look to terribly complex either. I don't think I could ever justify spending that much on a pattern. A dress maybe, but not a pattern

Do Vogue Special Design patterns tend to sell for a lot of money on eBay? Or did it sell so well because it's a 30s formal pattern as well? I have some 50s New Look Vogue Special Design patterns that I've been thinking about selling, but wasn't sure if it would be worth my time to list the patterns or not.

Ok, I knew this 1950s Christian Dior corset wasn't going to be within my price range, but still ... :(
Feast you eyes on it, ladies.

OH MY!! That is the most beautiful corset I have ever seen!! What a price though!! Too rich for my blood:(

Linda that's a sad loss too:( You should keep a picture of the dress and have someone make it for you. It's actually a simple pattern, and if you bought your own fabric and brought it to a dress maker it might possibly be around the same price as the one that you lost on ebay. Actually I liked that very same dress, and my max bid was higher than what is sold for but my router connection crashed just as I was putting my bid in and I lost it:( But, I kept a picture of the dress and hope to have a pattern professionally made so I can make it once I get better at sewing, or just have my dress maker make it for me. Also, there is a woman on ebay who people here have used to make dresses. She is pretty reasonably priced and has a ton of fabric options. If you send her a picture of a dress, with some detail in them, she should be able to make a copy for you. Her ebay store name is "Top Runway" her user ID is Oriental_Treasure. If you look through the Vintage Inspired Clothing thread you can see some of her work.

looks A LOT like the gown Kate Winslet wore to the Oscars this year

That's gotta be the same pattern, with just a few modifications... Vintage Inspired has been especially popular in Hollywood over the past year or so.
