Mardi Gras revelers, New Orleans, Louisiana 1938
Looks very much like the one I grew up in but it was a "Barber Shop & Billiard Parlor".For Hurricane Jack... (1930s Iowa)
Neat pic,I'd sure hate to compare his prices with current day!
This time the outfit in question is the sports coat, shirt, and tie combo worn by the guy on the right, in this circa October 7, 1959 photo
The guy on the left is thinking what we're all thinking...
Touche! Obscure WKRP reference that only true aficionados can appreciate. I really thought turkeys could fly...Herb Tarlek had to get his inspiration from somewhere.
I have to disagree on this one. That's simply a houndstooth tweed, probably tan and brown, which, with a pair of dark brown or gray trousers, would look very nice. I say this because I just bought one on the bay, a black-and-gray Harris Tweed that I really can't wait to wear. I'll be pairing it up with black jeans, white shirt, black tie and fedora, and either a black or dark red sweatervest. Not a Herb jacket at all. The guy above just needs a little heavenly guidance with the tie and shirt.Following up my previously posted photo in this thread, here's another startling clothing combination, though in a photo that takes place 10 years later.

Same cowboy, don't you think? Same boots in both pics and look like ACME bluebirds. Love the painted add in the window of the second pic.
The dog looks like it might be expectin to be shot.Arizona cowboys. Proof that 8" barrels were popular since the cowboy on the right carries two of them.
