The Knox Tom 'N' Jerry

I'm under the impression that Knox' "Tom 'N' Jerry" hats were more about the "suede" type of felt finish than the decorations with different stitching. Can all you Tom 'N' Jerry hat owners out there give your input?

As for the term Tom and Jerry, that was pretty popular even in the 19th century. Jerry Thomas even named a cocktail the Tom and Jerry in the 1860's, which I'm wondering if that's the drink you fellows are talking about? Surely the punch bowl set was a nod to him as he wrote the first book of mixed drinks in 1862, half of which was filled with punch recipes.
 
Found yesterday...a 1940's Knox "Tom 'n' Jerry" gift card box.......
