I have a similar hat in Dobbs...became my favorite summer hat, very comfortable. My felts are mostly 2 1/2 " brims, but like stingy in the straws.

I seem to be the same way. I don't know if I'd like a wider brimmed straw on myself.

The weather is finally cooling down some, at least enough for me to wear felt for part of the day. I've picked up two or three hats over the summer that I'm just now posting because it's been way too hot to wear them for several months.

This one is a Dobbs 20 that I fished from the bay last May. I finally got it cleaned up and brushed up and sent it to my friend, Jimmy the Lid, the master of the teardrop, who creased it and sent it back looking its finest. The felt is soft and substantial, and it's the first guild edge I've been able to add to my little hat family. Thanks, Jimmy, this one will see a lot of head time this winter.

Dan, in natural light there seems to be just the slightest hint of blue.

Josh, the look, the crease and the rake of this hat are entirely attributable to the talent of my friend, Jimmy. I've had hats come back from Optimo with what they call teardrops that don't even closely compare to what Jimmy does completely by hand. The man truly has a hand for hat creasing and an eye for what a fedora should look like.

DRB, this one was very clean when it came to me. It needed a good brushing, of course, and it had a couple of spots of something stuck to the felt that came off without much trouble with a bit of steam and a brush.

2-1/4" raw edge brim with a single row of stitches just inside the edge. Crown near 5-1/2" open. A really thin and featherweight felt. Weighs 72 gr. or 2.5 oz. Probably an early 1930's date.

Store logo change puts it before '35

Thanks Douglas. Really an outstanding felt. The felt is in great shape while the sweatband is the opposite. I think its actually a 7-1/4 as the sweatband fits as a snug 7-1/4 or large 7-1/8 but appears to have shrunken slightly from the larger body. Definitely one of my select favorites.
