Dobbs Leisure Light “permanently Styled by the Cavanagh Edge Process” with a 5 1/2” open crown and 2 1/2 brim with a felted Cavanagh edge. The sweatband is 2 1/4” wide and is thin, soft, and supple. The ribbon is 1 3/4” wide and it has a frayed edge bow. The hat is in incredible condition. The felt is everything you’d expect from a hat of this era that’s called Leisure Light! It’s only the size that disappoints and I knew it was small before I bought it. The immaculate Bon-Ton Ivy sweatband attachment is a bonus. The felt is black despite it showing dark blue in some photos.

I believe this is a 1920s hat, but would love to hear from those who might know better.

At least 30s with that reorder tag. I found one with a tag like that once. Max has it now.

I might be making assumptions (I’m prone to doing so), but I thought the size between the lions was discontinued late 1920s and moved to the right. Brad mentions that these labels are not the most accurate way yo date Dobbs hats, but I like thinking of it as a 1920s hat :)

Yup. Pretty sure the one I found was more like the second one, now that I see it.

Them's some skinny lions, though.

Dobbs Twenty in the colour Neptune (a dark blue). Size 60 (7 1/2 American) with the curled brim at 6cm (not counting the curl) and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Made under license in Germany. Probably dates from the sixties. Aside from a few small scuffs (two on the undersie of the brim and one at the pinch) it's in excellent condition and hand of the felt is beautiful. Nice shape and colour too.
Made for Breiter in Munchen.

Yet another nice find, Stefan.

The Breiter logo is always a sign of a quality hat. They sold nothing else.

And now a Dobbs made under license in Germany. This is the Twenty-Five and the felt is very nice for the era. It has 2 1/4” wide brim with an overwelt. The whole hat is nicely done in a modest sort of way, and I’m always a sucker for gills. The size is 58cm or 7 1/4 US.
