Dobbs Game Bird

If you head over to the New hats thread, you'll see my post and pics. I don't know anything about the hat. I purchased a vintage Steston Open Road, the Dobbs, and an unknown branded Australian riding hat, from a lady for $50. Unfortunately, the Dobbs hat is too small for me. Does anyone know anything about this hat?

It's felt with a velour finish, probably mid- to late-1960s, though it could even be '70s. I don't know how long the Canadian license lasted. At any rate, it's one of the last of the Game Birds.

Dobbs Westward.

:) My humble addition to the Dobbs Diner Menu!
As evident, it's been a very popular entree for many years,......just ask the moths!

:) Any help with dating the old warhorse would be greatly appreciated,...I'm not too good at this yet.

That's a nice Westward, even with the critter craters. I can't see the Dobbs logo on the sweatband, but it's no older than late-1940s, probably somewhere 1946-1956.

As a new Dobbs Twenty owner (estate sale find) I share the enthusiasm around here. :) The felt is magnificent and the proportions are nicely balanced.

I dunno, the brim looks a little wide...:D

Nice find, even if it doesn't have a liner.

One can never post enough photos.;)

It's from the '50s, as that's when this particular logo was used. It may have started in the late-'40s, but I don't have a firm date yet. Safe to say '50s.

Seeing that beautiful Dobbs Twenty that sold yesterday, made me wonder - How does a 1950's Dobbs Twenty compare to a Knox Twenty? I'm guessing very similar, but I've never handled a nicer Dobbs like that.

Dinerman, that's one of my favorites ever posted on the lounge. Tremendous lines and color combination.

Fantastic condition and it fits my head like a custom conformateur was used. Sweatband is a little over 2-1/8"with the edge rolled under.

Needs a little reshaping. 2-1/4" blonde leather sweatband with turned edge. Dobbs stamp matches the Derby above.

RLK, do you think part of the great fit is that unique sweat attachment. Seeing yours reminded me of one I'd forgotten about. Very similiar to yours.
Has the string tightener for the sweat which it looks like yours has. Mine has the rolled edge sweat also. Original $10 price tag! That had to be a LOT of money back then.
