You are gonna love it! I put a diamond in my Campdraft, not as pronounced as my TVA or your newest, but the Campdraft takes the diamond well. You may want to try it on yours.Fatdutchman said:Hey, I got notice the other day that the Campdraft I was waiting for has just been shipped by everythingaustralian. Woo-Hoo! Can't wait!

I bet you immediately changed out the thin ribbon for a fat one too!! lolRBH said:Here is where I got my Campdraft, it is also Taupe Fawn.
lol no!!!! The Campdraft is a hat unto itself, it has a higher crown than any of the Open Roads I have owned [4] I own none now as they just dont match the Campdraft in looks [I think]. Notice I said looks, the felt on the CD is fine, but it did not match the vintage felt of the ORs. I just like the higher crown.indycop said:I bet you immediately changed out the thin ribbon for a fat one too!! lol
Still does!Lensmaster said:I had never heard of a diamond bash...
It must have had a period of popularity.

looks just like my federation, a perfect diamond instead of more to the rear.fatwoul said:I don't know whether it was genuine taper, or the effect of wearing my Fieldmaster (with its decidely fleshy crown), but my Federation Deluxe has looked a little flaccid the last couple of times I've worn it. I consdered trying to reshape it with my HatShaper, but for now, I decided to mess about and see how the hat looked with a diamond (not-bogart suggested this as a remedy to a tapering hat, months ago on another forum):
I'm actually quite pleased with the results.
Because I am short, the loss of crown height is actually not all that important, and I like the squared shape. I also really like the straighter sides the hat now has.
I may well consider a similar bash in my next Federation...
...Ah who am I kidding of course I'll just shove a centre dent in it. But it's nice to know that once one of them tapers, a diamond can give it a new lease of life for a while.
That is a pinch that is common on Indiana Jones type fedoras.mineral said:Fatwoul, aren't you at least worried about having the front of your hat almost folded to the point of having a corner at the crown?
I can't help but think that's not any helpful for the longevity of the felt.
