Well, my camera technique is not top notch but...
that looks great. My "regular" one might be arriving today or tomorrow. If I like it, I might upgrade to this one as I like the idea of not having the full lining as well.

What is your weight and height? I went with size 42 for mine knowing I will wash it and shrink it some. But I also do remember the submarine one had slightly different measurements and I think i could fit in the 40 as well. At least on paper.

I'm currently 178 cm (will not grow taller) and about 81-82 kg and it's not muscles.
I'm not to found of the USN prints and this one is a bit of a compromise. The Submariner runs a bit smaller than the regular khaki wool. Like 1 cm overall. But my impression is that the woolblend is much thicker on the regular so it has more of a snug fit than this one. I have a bunch of vintage and repros deck and field jackets and the sizing is all over the place when I think about it.

LOL, we all in the same boat. You pretty much where I am at. I might have an extra kilo or two on you.

I just got the Bronson Khaki (the mid level one I guess. Not the submarine, not the non wool one). I'm pretty dang impressed. Other than some finishing touches (i.e. nicer buttons, zippers, etc.) I can't imagine any other upgrades other than going full blown alpaca or something like that. Solid construction. The jungle cloth is great. Corduroy in the pockets. Really nice.

As I suspected, it's about a half to full size too big for me at size 42 (that's preferring a tshirt only fit for my climate). I knew that going in. But also being a lighter color jacket, I knew at some point it would get a wash, so wanted to future proof it. So I gave it a hose down and spin cycle. Spent about 20 minutes in the dryer. As soon as I saw the zipper waves, I knew I got a good enough shrink, maybe 1 inch on ptp and similar in waist and bottom hem. Probably lost a little on length and sleeves too, but there was plenty room there. It's just finishing drying in the sun. I'll post some pics later on today.

Also, the USN stencil is very light. So I think it's a good compromise as well. My A2 has a very thick, "freshly" painted sort of feel. The N1 feels more like a vintage look with cracking, etc. but the overall font size seems to be smaller as well.

After a wash and dry. Dont think I could go anymore smaller because of tighter arm holes. Usually I'd like some more shape in torso, but this isn't that kind of jacket.

Beyond happy at the $180 price point. We'll see how it stands up over time.

Here is what I think is a Houston jacket size 40R.
I tried my size 38 Bronson navy blue version of the N1. It has longer arms than the Submariner in size 42 but it's to tight for me. So its up for sale. Unused with tags still attached.

It does seem like great value for money!, i've always been happy with their t-shirts, they use good materials.
I also own a Bronson Navy Blue N-1 and I am very happy with it. Quality, cut and prize are well balanced. Only gripe is the bold US Navy across the back although I like it's authentic appearance from a historical point of view. Still haven't made up my mind about removing it (if this can be done safely at all).

So I gave the Submariner a soak and wash in the machine (hand wash program wool/Kashmir detergent). And then a quick spinn in the tumbler and an hour in a drying cabinette and now the fit is perfect IMO. It was a bit smelly and I got rid of that as well. The only concern now is that the wool liner sheds quite a bit...

Hi guys,

Any suggestions in sizing Freewheelers N1 2131015 or 2231005?

Normally I’m a 42 guy with 43.5” chest. My mulholland in 42 is very snug so I prefer to wear it open only. I can close but in the moment it’s too tight.
The FW n1 has in 42 only 58/59 cm outer measurements. But lining must be quite thick.
I wear IH N1 in Large and it fits perfectly.

Not sure if to take FW in 42 or 42. Don’t want to layer much nor a bulky fit.
But IH has in L 59 cm chest tans I guess it’s a tick thinner than FW.

Thanks

I’ll answer that on my own, just for documentation.
Received Freewheelers N1 in dark Khaki beige in size 42.
it’s a bit longer, arms are perfect, shoulder too. Chest still a bit snug as it’s new and even thicker as IH. IH was in beginning there more snug too.
Arms on FW are with fur too, so really warm. And the fur/alpaca wool you can’t compare wit Iron Heart. Much better wool. From details and construction built not to mention.

Looks great but I have to say I'm surprised to see that much wear on the button holes!

Yes this I was surprised too. Maybe some guys tried it on in store. But the only loose threads on whole jacket.

There is also wool at arm cuffs
