Here’s a redo of a conversion I was trying to get comfortable wearing as a thin ribbon but just wasn’t feeling it. I opted for more of a style similar to another 3x I wear more frequently.
This one is 1960 s vin Stetson 3x w embroidered liner. Cut brim to 2 7/8 and added a decorative stitch 1/8 from edge in black to match the 1 1/8 grosgrain and wind cord.
Reblocked it after washing the stiffness again for second time down from 6” to 5 3/4 and now it fits much better. Very comfortable .
Love these 3x hats as they are very forgiving and take a beating yet one can remold them to their liking with a little effort,ie a lot of effort and a “bucket of steam”.

Nothing elaborate with this one. This is my grab and go work hat project. I had this 4X OR for a few years and used it as my experiment hat. It's been taken apart, converted and put back together several times since I had it. So, no more lab hat for this one. I'm not a fan of putting wider and contrasting ribbons on Silverbelly hats but I did on this one. I went with a Bronze colored mid ribbon since it matches some of the Silverbelly undertones of that color. It has a taller straight sided crown, (and even a bit of reverse taper), creased 4 3/4 at the pinch, with a little more of a rake than I usually do, sloping to 3 3/4 to the back.

Maybe not elaborate, but the results are stellar. Great work, Terry.

Nice work there to both of DMan and TJones !
DMan when I first saw your all red liner it reminded me of something out of a 1860s French bordello, in a good way of course.
Looks sharp.

Thank you, buddy. For a contrast the bronze worked out pretty good. It picked up the undertones and didn't overwhelm the Silverbelly's lighter color.
For the rake I wanted to see what it would look like a little lower in the back. I liked it so my next conversions will have steeper rakes.
