I picked up this Borsalino Doria Gruppo mohair several months back via ebay. It is perhaps the most comfortable cap I own. And surprisingly lightweight for so much warmth.

To all the fine guys I've had the good fortune to find myself amongst this year, I celebrate each of you and thank you for the fun of sharing, learning from and communing with you all. I hope you and yours have an excellent and relaxing holiday!

Thanks Keith! Good one to you and your beautiful family, and definately to all my other cap wearing friends and theirs.
New caps would be awesome, but I sincerely hope you all find joy and hope in those around you.

Cheers Keith and Dale and echo both of your sentiments!

Nice borsy Andy.

My new Simonds cap arrived yesterday, just in time for wearing out last night. When I saw this fabric, i knew it was perfect for the European style of cap. In my opinion this stuff wouldn't work at all as an 8-panel; the pattern is just too big.

What we were going for was the perfect reproduction of a 1930s French 8-dart style, with sweatband only across the forehead and French canvas around the rear to provide shape and stffness. I had very specific brim requests, which I believe was a bit smaller than Barry's standard brim. In my opinion we're pretty much there, and with just one little tweak that I'll let Barry know about, this is the perfect reproduction French cap. It would be equally good as another European style with the band and buttons across the front.

Well done Barry!

Simonds has great taste in fabric...it is good to see others have the drive to find vintage fabrics also, it shows everyone is trying to stay ahead of the game! :)

Yes, vintage fabrics are the best for making caps. You really have to keep your eyes constantly open on ebay or etsy. Here is a cool pattern on this small old cap. Has some moth damage, but you can still appreciate the pattern:
