Here are some caps available in Canada in summer 1936:

Didn't someone show a 'Jackie cap' on here a couple of months back?

Here's one of those fancy patterns:

GoldenEraFan, lovely cap you found there! Such a bold size herringbone pattern. Does it fit you?

I LOVE those ads, TwoTypes - are there more where you found them? I'd like to try and make the 'Streamlined' (both types - er, two types!) And yes, I posted the Jackie cap a while back. Amazing it was still called that 14 years later! Thanks for posting...

Nice one Golden Era Fan. The furry earflaps look just the ticket for this time of year.

Two Types - thanks for posting up the vintage ads. That's the kind of stuff, along with period photos, that inspires.

Glad you like the caps. I will be downloading more photos from the same source and posting them here over the next few days. There will be caps dating back to about 1916, then through to the 1940s and 1950s.

This is the one I particularly like:

The three rear pleats are sure to soon appear on the products of our capmakers (Johnny & Barry, I hope you are reading this).

Looking at these is absolutely the best cure for a rainy Saturday afternoon. Well.......this and vodka.
Thanks Two Types.

I'm going to attempt to clean it first before I try it on and I'm thinking of selling it if it doesn't fit.

A couple of Christmas presents.

Green herringbone Harris Tweed (maker unknown) from my parents:

James Dermot of London from my Step-daughter:

My first James Dermot, and probably not my last. Fairly light weight and with a nice volume.

Congrats on those Richard. They both look great.

It's always a nice thing when loved ones really know you well enough to give a gift you will actually use......not some @#%& they bought off the t.v. late at night.

Nice gifts, Richard - you've got a lovely collection of headgear!! OK, now sing it with me: Tweedy King, Oh Richard You Are.... (blame my hammy dad, I'm not responsible)

TwoTypes, keep those vintage ads comin', I'm loving them!!
