Great cap Manfred! I like that style. Really like the sweater too.

That fabric is superb, Keith!

My newest homemade: 'The Zephyr.' 1940's wool, 1920's moiré grosgrain band, 1920s kimono silk liner. I made the pattern from a gorgeous but moth-ravaged 1920's cap...

gee I sure been missin some nice caps.....

all of them are beauty's..

Keith, your new creation of the nicest materials is Killer....
you know I have a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr coupe & this cap makes me want to fix her up all pretty like your cap...
.& a cap like this Zephyr would compliment the man behind the wheel well....
oh the brown crepe deadstock is a dandy as well..

Richard,
your L & F flat cap is a Beauty as well just the fabric alone is something super , a great accessory for your fine woolen garments....
the Flatter Flatie a few pages back is cool as well & outfit Tweed King you are ! nice vest tooo....

Manfred !,
the Supra is Super ! a excellent find & just a rare example of the extreme coolness of the variances of what was made in the times past...

Pinesw,
Cordova cap now that's a good match for your ensemble... I dig it !!

2 Types,
very slick pics & detail of the "pretty flash" cap... looks like a good flick as well..

Thanks Che! I'd love to see you behind the wheel of your Zephyr!

I forgot to raise my thumb high for Manfred's new cap - there is something about French caps that can be so utterly aerodynamic - that's a winner if I ever saw one.

You have a real knack for matching patterns at the seams, and making them work when that's not possible. Using this cap as an example, I think a lot of run-of-the-mill hatters might have made the stripes run horizontally on the sides of the cap in an effort to match the top. The way you did it, in my opinion, uses the stripes in such a way that they compliment both the stripes on the top and the overall shape of the cap. Simple, clean, and effective!

You ought to go into business!

Oh my God, jhe - if you knew how long it takes for me to make one of these you'd crack up. Hearing that Barry and Johnny make a cap in a few hours is boggling to me. I spend that much time just swearing before I even start.

Yep, that's the stuff. It's been through rollers to create the effect, sadly. (Only sadly because it's the cheatin way to make moire. Nice enough stuff, but the warp/weft tension method creates a far more interesting and varied pattern, IMO. The copper rollers method repeats the same pattern over and over again, like on yours.)

Thanks jhe and Richard!

BK: moire display, ok? (say three times fast)
