The Bowler or Derby Hat

Again a new French beauty:
Thibet "LUXE" bowler/derby respectively chapeau melon
The only label inside is an embroidered fabric label "BURGUNDER Romain".
Sold at Caésar Wolfram - successor J. Laforgue in Thann/France.
So far I have found nothing about the hat manufacturer/seller.
Great wool felt - Super overall condition - Nice proportions.
The best thing is the unusual and fantastic lining.
My dating idea would be 40s - a feeling based on the lining.
Original size tag: 60 cm / 6 1/2 Punti / 7 3/8 English size.
Is more like a 59 and with cork strips it fits me.

A beauty. Yes, the liner really sets it apart.

1930s Stetson Bowler imported by Sools of Paris.

Stefan was kind enough to catch this one for me via a Dutch auction site. He posted extensive photos of it on the 6th of June on this thread. I've just added a few more here.

Great dimensions on this Stetson, not to mention the super quality of the workmanship. Apart from the foxing, it's as good as new.

A most excellent example, Steve. You always look good in a bowler, my friend.

Found this recently. I'm not collecting bowlers, but the price for this one went down so fast that the seller was more or less giving it away. Ok, if you're going to twist my arm...
Le Plumet bowler. Belgian made (likely); no label inside the hat unfortunately. Size 57 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 12cm (more or less). Very well made bowler and fits me quite well. I find that bowlers do tend to run small sometimes (they aren't as forgiving in fit as soft felt hats of course).

Another nice find, Stefan. The hat market is more or less dormant here in Denmark.

I finally got around to replacing the ribbon on my bowler that I shared a number of months ago. I have experience making my own hats, but I underestimated the difficulty the curl in the brim would cause compared the the fedoras I made in the past. I’m reasonably happy with how it turned out - I just hope the stitches hold so I don’t have to do this again.

Just looking at the hard curls on a bowler makes me wonder how they did it at all! You've done a great job with yours, Mark.

Borsalino bowler "Rizzo" in a size 59 (fits smaller though). Brim at 5,5cm and crown about 13cm. Pre-war hat with cell-type label. Bought it without knowing the size, but these don't come along often, so I took a chance. Some scuffing along the brim binding, but other than that in great shape. Lovely hand to the felt. Note the unusually small Borsalino logo on the sweatband. Weighs 170 grams.
