Way to big for me; the largest Borsalino I have ever encountered.
Currently for sale on eBay; auction ends Nov. 7th.

Here's an unusually large styled Borsa fit for a Hollywood actor, Leo Carrillo aka Pancho from The Cisco Kid to be exact! I had no clue of this when I snagged hat, I've just always liked these western Borsalino's but I found a few examples of his signature and sure enough it's his on hat's sweat. I assumed when hat arrived I'd find "original" ribbon underneath woven leather band but once I started poking around it was clear leather band was on there <good> and has been a long time (felt's shades lighter under band). No clue if Borsalino would make this hat typically for Tom Campbell's or if the latter ordered it to be presented to Carrillo or if he ordered it for hisself but it definitely makes a statement. (edit .. I'm thinking option #3 is out as embossing of his name is spelled incorrectly and is half arsed in general).
I think model is called a Najauva? 6 1/2" x 3 1/2", felt's very soft and readily hangs on to any bash. Hat also needs a bath and has lost half of sweat's thread (Hello, Robert?). Last Picture is of Leo with this Borsa c1950 (nice of him to leave us such a clear view of Borsa logo et al ; )

These are measures of the Borsalino : the brims edged by a very thin ribbon to match the felt measure 6 cm. the ribbon in perfect color with the felt is 3 cm and the crown at its lowest point is at 10.

This too is too wide for my head and as well as the other hats size 60 or 7 1/2 showed these days it is in sale for now without remorse

Pity it doesn't fit you, Daniele. Great shape to it and I like the Lupo colour.

Glad to see you posting again, Georg.
Very interesting: that's the latest example we've seen of this type of label. The theory was that they stopped using this by the end of the sixties. The hat could have been a shop remnant though, so no definitive proof.

Recently added Borsalino. Not sure of age but appears as brand new / unworn. 2-2/4 brim and 5-1/5 crown. Shapes easliy w/o steam. I have several Borso's but the felt on this one is by far the lightest and softest. I believe the lower left side of the perforated tag says Rutenio?

Haven't come across any Borsalinos for a while, then suddenly, I bag 6 of them. This one was the first to arrive. Quite new, even still has the tag. Not up to the quality of vintage Borsalinos, but it looks nice. I was drawn by the colour and the fact that it was sold in Petitgas; Denmark's oldest, still in existence hat shop.

Brother of Brummel's, in size, that you see in this thread has aroused enormous interest, later revealing itself to be a bitter disappointment.

The size ruled out any possibility for me and for Stefan as well.

Borsalino Qualit° Superiore (on the front of the sweatband) size 54 centimeters or 3 1/2 for the French and 6 3/4 in the USA.

The trademark, in yellow, is barely visible above the tip of the Cession hats shop in Liège.
I have rarely seen the Borsalino logo printed directly on the felt and this leads me to think it is a hat from before the Second World War or made immediately after.

The paper label suggests the second hypothesis.

The color of the felt is "Rutenio" and the type of hat is "Etnasti" (never found in my life)

The proportions of this rare Borsalino Lord hat are as follows: brim curled at 6 cm. the ribbon is 4cm and the height of the crown at its minimum point is 10cm.

He too was bought in the Cession shop in Liège - Belgium a few years ago.

I have no hat of this shape and having one either in black or as this would have been a satisfaction, it is instead destined to remain in my personal museum, as long as a small size shows up

Wonderful form on this curled brim. Interesting to have two Rutenio (ruthenium) marked felts that are so different in tone.

Alan, your observation is perfect, but it has an explanation: the red bricks of the house behind the wisteria that supports the en plein air set greatly influence the gray felts. I made arrangements with a colleague to photograph the hats in the studio. The best color is one in which gray has no dominant. The first is the most faithful
