The hats themselves never were meant as roll up hats, Dennis. There's a post in this thread somewhere that has a folder for the shop of Cambini of Firenze who seemed to have specialized selling these. O, might as well post the pics again. There's actually a homburg offered in this folder as a hat that could be shipped off in one of these boxes!

Great photos, Stefan. Wouldn't it have been something to visit that shop back then and to have bought some hats? Is it still there perchance?

It does have both a leather sweatband and a liner. Not as lightweight as others at 100 grams, but certainly not a heavyweight either. Qualita extra extra superiore. As far as I know Alan is the only one with a lightweight coffin box hat with a grosgrain sweatband.

Stefan, that's one of those hats where you almost enjoy looking at the inside of it as much as you do the outside.

Ja, Hatman, the mind boggles at the thought of a Homburg in one of those boxes.

Thank you Stefan for the inside pics. I do recall Alan’s grosgrain sweatband example.
Thanks for the advertising literature. I had no idea such style assortments were available. More unicorns to hunt!!

no date on ad.....this is not a 60's hat

Wonderful, love those logos on sweatband and liner. Thank you for posting.
Concerning the dating; according to the "BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD RECAP" courtesy of @steur (thank you, Stefan):
* cerrated format with the borsalino name sideways: appears in the thirties (my theory would be after the GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro was taken over in 1936) up until the early fifties (there are known combinations with OPS tags)

Borsalino "Ipersca" in misto Ionio light gray felt. Note the combination of an earlier (perhaps 1940s) manufacturing tag with the milky vinyl crown protector.

Greetings y’all from 3ft from the sun Arizona

So right off I have no clue what I bought except it looked awesome and reminds me of my 1950’s and 1960’s Stetsons and Resistols.

I went to goodwill of all places
To find some pants to repurpose for a cowboy shooting club and I also needed something to hold my spent 45 brass... figures I head to the ladies area to check out some clutch bags and maybe find a leather or canvas one..

I found this instead in the ladies hat area? Why ladies don’t know but I uploaded images and I’m quite happy with the $4.90 purchase. Excited the wind trolly is still on it as well.. probably a recent donation or that may have be torn lost or what not.

Don’t know much about the brand but the long hair was awesome and it looks great except it has some lint on it.

Now I can’t hit every goodwill everyday but thats the neat thing about it... as my pappy use to say “every now and then you’ll find a raisin amongst the rabbit pellets”.

One bad thing. I’m 7-1/2 (60) and this is no where near that

Let me know what ya think online and take care.

Thanks, Steve. It would be something to be shopping for those hats at those prices today for sure, but Cambini is no longer there, so probably no chance for old stock there I'm afraid.

It is kind of surprising, but the folder does say they offer all the hats in the catalogue to be shipped that way. And the very first hat is a homburg. Don't think we ever saw one of those here on the lounge though.
