Very enjoyable seeing this history. Even though it is 30 years ago, seems like yesterday.
These that you find below without comment are the first eight pages of the Borsalino 1988-89 catalog, exactly thirty years ago. You can see the entire production of the "Casa di Alessandria". There are some English translations for each paragraph in the catalog, so you can have all the details on production and history of the Borsalino owners.
One comment: the Italian translation, bad, was made from English and there are numerous typos.
Up to you the comments on the Borsalino production of thirty years ago.

Here the new factory, immediately after the dismantling of the historical factory, you will also find explanations of the changes in ownership
Today you will see the "Linea Seta" which seems to be the high end in the parameters of the time
Tomorrow we will go on with the "Qualità Superiore"

Such a great find, Daniele. It's a joy to see the pages from it. It must be even a greater joy to actually own the catalogue, read it, touch it, smell it. A true piece of modern Borsalino history. Congrats.

Fantastic find, Daniele. Very interesting. They mention the different finishes for the hats, but not available colours. I've come across the first type of hat (the heather 110333); incredibly soft hats, both the hand and the lack of structure.

I have some Borsalinos that might fall in that time frame. It will be interesting to see if you post some model-numbers that match mine.

Thank you for your appreciation. It is the first time I see a complete Borsalino catalog.Daniele, Great to see a catalog from this time period. Look forward to more!

Two considerations, one technique: I have never seen, in my life of commercial photographer, a catalog executed so badly. Photographs are banal, poor rigorous layout and poor graphics. The texts, both Italian and English, present gross linguistic and typing errors. One, on products: thirty years ago Borsalino was a "gold mine" for the production of an infinite number of models, some lost in the folds of time, other fashion sons of those years, however, an unthinkable richness in a period in which the hats was completely out of fashion.
I agree with Stefan that there are no indications of the colors and that the language, in Italian, is a "code" for initiates to the art of the hat. It is always explained how the hat is formed, if pressed by machine or formed with the hands, all this in English disappears, as well as some explanations of the workings of the felt
You will find out at the end of the publication of the wealth present only thirty years ago at these latitudes.
Fantastic! It will take me some time to look at them individually. I did notice this period seems to be the turning point for the hats with the gold foil print on the bow keeper. Some of them have it and some of them don't.Qualità Superiore Part One
Some open crown
Different felts finishes
Heritage from the seventies
First, my compliments for this incredible find.A special find to share. Borsalino's interpretation of a Boss of the Plains. 4" crown, 3-1/8" flat stiff brim. This one also has the sample tag.

Second, this is a very old (ancient) Borsalino, see the sample tag and others details
Third, I think it's part of a sample, my thought is a consequence of the paper label that shows all the details of the hat, put in evidence
About the Boss of the Plans interpretation I have some doubts
is it possible to love a hat.. because if it isn't, I think I just broke that barrierA special find to share. Borsalino's interpretation of a Boss of the Plains. 4" crown, 3-1/8" flat stiff brim. This one also has the sample tag.
