The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Do you own a Stetson StRegis hommie? I would like to pick one up but curious how they compare with a Borsa. Could you comment on your opinion
Yes, My St. Regis is a fairly early example, Moon thinks it may be 1940s. So, vintage quality, yeah. The felt on the Borsalino is much softer. They both mold well with just a touch, but the St. Regis is a little more supple. In comparison of the quality and workmanship, both are very nice. I think the overall finish of the Borso is a little more detailed. Love them both a whole bunch!
I have a line on a St Regis hesitating to pull the trigger.

I love my St. Regis, there are so many here on the lounge they need their own thread. I would not hesitate to add one to your stable. Unless of course it is a complete turd condition wise.

I’ve complained in the past that I have never seen a Borsalino in a thrift shop here in Central TX. Can’t make that complaint anymore. I found this one this week. Stingy brim, only 2” but I like one occasionally and this one has super nice felt and is in great condition except for the oilskin tip liner which I removed. No tags under the sweat, but it is stamped 6 1/2. It fits like a 5 1/2 or 6.

Took this used but not vintage Borsalino for its first walk yesterday. None of my other hats are this lightly constructed, but the flimsy build is really comfortable. Also, is the taper a typical thing across the brand or do some models have straighter crowns? I'm just curious because it's my first Borsalino.

Its the European style. Most modern Borsalinos do have more taper then I prefer excepting the Borsalino Alessandria model. Even the "Como" a nice hat with decent crown height and brim width has too much taper for my taste. I do see quite a few of the "vintage" styles were blocked with straighter sides and less taper though.

Love the brown one. What model is that? I assume they're not all paper thin like mine?
It is an Alessandria. My experience is that borsos are all well pounced and feel more like customs than the usual modern hats.

Ended up letting the listing pass. Did not have quite enough in the hat account so used that as an excuse to pass. He may relist it so the decision may come up again.

1950s industrial cart which originally came from the factory in Alessandria.

The building now accommodates students from the University of Piedmont. While construction was going on a few years ago it was recovered by one of the workmen.

Great looking borsalino. What kind of brim treatment does that one have? It looks like some kind of mode edge.
the Gorasgu has a felted edge ... or "Cav edge"

I remember Daniele saying what they call it in Italy ... but I can't remember ... something like feltrato
