Do you have any more info about the LEO designation? I can't turn up anything on the web, except the occasional link to hats displayed here on the lounge.
Thanks,
Michael
That is a wonderful find, Michael! I've never seen a borsalino homburg in dark blue before. Super! My find for today,

It came with a plain brown box and I found a mailing label and postmark on the bottom of the box. The addressee's name has the same intials as are stamped in the hat, so I'm assuming the two are related. The postmark is dated January 26, 1959.
Any info about the model would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks steur. I thought it was black when I looked at it the first couple of times and then when the light was different I thought maybe it was blue. If you hold it up against something blue it looks black, but if you hold it next to something black it looks blue. Ha ha. I guess the color noted on the label answers the question of which it is if Mirtillo correctly translates as Blueberry. I still haven't been able to find out anything about the LEO designation. That is a wonderful find, Michael! I've never seen a borsalino homburg in dark blue before. Super!
I know what you mean, Michael. I have a Mirtillo fedora myself and it is very close to black. Blueberry is indeed the right translation. Never saw the LEO designation before, so can't help you there. Thanks steur. It seems a 7 US size. It is a 5 in French size (punti) and a 57 centimetres in EU
Borsalino use the French size system because Giuseppe Borsalino worked in his apprentice in France.
The French way is used mostly in Europe, in the USA Borsalino use the US system, so if your hat is made for the US market it is a 7, if it is made for EU market it is 7 so a 7 5/8 US 61 centimetres in EU.

Two fantastic borsalinos, Tonio. Unique colours too. The second one looks like a lightweight hat; can you tell if it had a crown patch at one time?Number two:

What is that edge finish? Is that very narrow grosgrain sewn separately on the top and bottom at different distances from the edge? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.Excited to share two new acquisitions! This one has great detail on the brim stitching.
