Many thanks Benny, indeed , I Persuaded the coves to go 5 1/2 inch lapels, they were doubtful, but I am delighted!, I'm tempted to get another one in coffee coloured linen.

I had a coffee coloured linen suit that departed to my saintly friend Vincente di Paolo...it was a great colour. I had it made at Prince Henry by pure coincidence.

Yes, Morris Minors are cute, but I've always really wanted one of these

Citroen D Super (but a plain old DS would be nice too).

When I taught school as a 21 year old back in the 70s one of the teachers had one. He took me for a ride in it and I remember the need to first lift it up with that hydraulic lift.

That's pure gold Talbot lol

"my little daughter Chardonnay-Mercedes" - priceless!

Yeah plus it has the required "I hate Collingwood" flavour. I hate those Magpie lovers...one of my (Collingwood loving) mates said to me "Cookie you know you want to come over to the Dark Side" ! Yeah...like NOT!

Spare a thought and a prayer for those in Christchurch today.

All my immediate family now live in Christchurch and I had 5 terrifying hours where I couldn't get through to find out how they were - the phones networks were all down. I felt absolute helpless here in Melbourne, watching the terrible pictures on the telly and not knowing what had happened to my family.

Amazingly my family is all OK but they had lucky escapes especially my sister as she works in the CBD, her building was collapsing and she legged it into the street only to have rubble and glass flying everywhere, she ducked into a doorway which survived the quake. Then she had to run through the streets (you couldn't make it through by car) to both my nephew's and niece's schools to see if they were OK. My nephew was lucky as they were having lunch on the rugby fields, the school is an ancient old place and parts of it have been flattened. They don't know who was inside though at the time. My niece was thankfully OK as well.

My poor old Dad's (who's 82) rest home has been extensively damaged and he's been evacuated to the local community centre.

I had a good chinwag with my sister but she's in complete shock, she saw multi-story buildings just collapse onto themselves and some shocking images. She said parts of the CBD are annihilated.

Absolutely tragic, I had tears in my eyes watching it. Haven't heard about other people I know down there. I am just lucky that my Dad, sis, brother-in-law and the kids are OK.

That's really appreciated Rue, there's a lot of people back home in NZ who need all the prayers they can get.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and thoughts for everyone in Christchurch. Waking up today I realised how unbelievably lucky I am that my family was OK, considering my sis and brother-in-law were smack bang in the CBD and my Dad and the kids were right in the inner suburbs. It's a miracle.

But guys spare a thought for lareine who is a Lounger based in Christchurch.

Lareine - hope you and yours are OK.

Kia kaha Christchurch.

Am so sorry about this. We had a worrying couple of hours as one of our party in Napier was going to travel back home Tuesday night. As it happened, she was able to get a lift back on Wednesday morning with her mother, and they were still half an hour out of Christchurch when the Quake hit. They did have to make their way on foot to their grandmother/mother's house, where they found there was extensive damage (chimney down and parts of the house flattened). They'll be taking her back to where they live near Greymouth for a while.

Relieved your family is OK, Tim - that was my first thought, when I heard about it.
My prayers and thoughts goes to everybody down there.
