Absolutely. Here's one I just picked up at a local thrift shop. Beautiful colour and spotless. No mothing. Great hat but unfortunately I'll never wear it. At size 7 it's three sizes too small for me but I just couldn't let it sit there!

It had a rough cattleman's crease that I changed to a C crease. Lovely hat to work with!

DNO, that's a beaut. Looks like the grosgrain has taken on that sun-drenched patina, like liquid gold. Nice!

I have one of that era and did the same thing to the crease. I concur about the felt.

Thanks Randall. The hat has faded a bit and you can see the original colour if you shift the ribbon a bit. I sure wish this beauty actually fit me!

I'm coming to the realization that I may be collecting these hats...I was always suffering under the delusion that I was just picking up hats to wear. Can't really say that with this one.

Tom, very nice hat. 3X is pretty much the standard designation for most entry level Stetsons. There are some threads that discuss the progression of quality by the different X's ie 7X, 10X, etc. I am perfectly happy with a 3X for daily wear.

"Special" is in the eye of the beholder, but also upon the head of the wearer. Yours look great. I have a No. 1 Quality, which as I understand it is a rung lower than 3X, and i'm pleased as can be with it.

Not to split hairs but 3X is a bit more "special" than entry level.
Dress hats come in at Royal & Royal Deluxe before getting to 3X.
Western Stetson have Number 1 Quality as well as Royal & Royal Deluxe before getting to 3X.

I did enjoy re-reading that thread.
Jarred my memory that the 3X was also The Imperial like the 20 was The Sovereign....a little more "special" for the 3X.

Era will have a lot to do with the character of these Stetson models. The pre-war 3X Imperial Stetson looks and feels pretty special compared to a 1950s fifteen dollar 3X (both are dress hats). A depression era No.1 Quality western is a horse of a different color when compared with a 1950s No.1.

I just asked about a similar vintage 3X. If I'm not mistaken the opinion was late 50s at best, and likely early 1960s.

Its a great hat by the way!!
