looks like you're gonna have to replace the sweat. Other than that it looks pretty nice (It'll be interesting to see the moth damage. Some sellers have a very interesting concept of what constitutes "not readily apparent").

Nice looking in the pic. I looked at that but flinched at the mention of moth damage. I hope it's repairable. Seems a bit steep for a less than perfect hat. The bidding's interesting. 1st timer. k

Yeah the shape is awesome.The price to me is more than fair but people like that really p me off. He said he hoped the seller would get a high price. Well, he got his wish.

Killer shape, Douglas- it should really shine with a cleaning; I too like the pitch-try to do it with an OR and it doesn't come off like that beauty...and-are you going to stay with the contrasting ribbon? IMO that combo is just right (but then again, after viscious bidding, you own the hat!)

The moth damage does'nt scare me too much. The sweat is a concern but I won't freak out untill I see it.

No it is not just you Douglas. I thought the bidding looked odd. Based on his 0 feedback, it is possible the other bidder is inexperienced in bidding.

I just found out that the seller is here is the city and I will pick it up on Monday. This alone is worth the price. What a great day.

My 2 cents on eBay bidding: I don't bid multiple times, and I don't "snipe". I put one bid in for the price that I would be happy paying. If I lose it, then so be it. This has kept me stress free during 6+ years of eBaying.

I agree, it's very unusual for a new bidder to come back and try so many times at such small increments. It's a bit suspicious that it's a new bidder with no feedback, too. Makes one wonder if the seller was running up the price under another name.

But it is a decent loking hat, and I've seen other Strats sell for that price. However, I'd say you paid all the market will bear on that one.

Sorry; the other bidder was me. New to the FL, and new to ebay. Not trying to bid you up, trying to get an awesome hat at a bargain price. Will continue to "lurk" in the FL, and hopefully get used to ebay that I may score a great vintage hat also.

I picked up your new Strats 1st cousin earlier this year. It did not have a liner and the sweat was marked as you describe. A trip to VS and I am quite happy with it. I am sure you will enjoy yours.:fedora:

My eyes are always open. I was prepared to go a bit higher. I wanted the hat just on the looks alone and I'm interested in the logo on the side of the sweat. It was stated by Aliados that it has some tags behind the sweat as well which I like. The hat is less than perfect but for it's age I am pleased.My annoyance will pass when the hat is in my hand and being passed off by the seller in the same city is great.
