...because I can't afford it. It's an original Golden Era booklet about men's fashions, what colors you should wear according to your body type, how a suit should be cut on you acording to your body type, all that.

Normally, I wouldn't post an auction, but I doubted anyone else had seen this, and it's outside my price range. I thought Art or Matt Deckard or someone might be interested (and would copy it for me if they get it).

Wow I love these, too rich for me at the moment, though I'm happy with the catalogue I got yesterday, its going to take me days to get through its over 1000 pages of 1939 fashion and style. Thanks for giving me the opportunity of seeing these two items Havershaw.

Regards Phil

Phil,
Sounds like you got yourself quite a find there!

Matt -
I am truly envious...but it couldn't go to a better home.

I just got a National Bellas catalog (1931-32) and another huge Ward's catalog, which is also 31-32. Interesting that the term "art deco" is never used - it's only ever decribed as "Modern."

I have also found that I prefer the "modern suits for young men" or the "young men's model" when it comes to suits. The Ward's 31-32 catalog I have always gives two different styles to choose from, "Conservative" and "For Younger Men," the latter being tapered at the waist with much more pointed shoulders and peaked lapels.

Guess I would hve been pretty stylish back in the day, as my tastes tend to run toward, as Ward's put it, "The Very Cutting Edge of Modern Fashion!"

Ironic how much I detest today's version of "The Very Cutting Edge of Fashion!"
