This humid heat wave we're experiencing in California is too much. I can wear a jacket for a few hours before the sun rises, but that's about it. Hopefully the weather gods will bring our state some cooler weather and rain. Sounds like some people here are having a tough time with the heat too in their areas. I hate it. "California Sun" is a pretty good song, but the California sun is making me want to move to Oregon, or better yet Norway. I just need to find a lady friend down here and then we're off to the tundra, where we can order some custom B-3s or multi-panel Irvins, and get some sled dogs. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

You don't have to move quite that far. As usual, here in San Francisco, it's been pretty much foggy and overcast every day. Downright cold down by the beach. At least cool enough to wear a vintage or Himel cafe racer whenever I walk out the door. But I have been selling off my heavier FQHH jackets.

Nick, I hear you. We've had a continuous and all time record breaking heat wave for the whole of July and August, one that's still ongoing with temperatures set at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Honestly, that's all I can stand and I can't stand no more. I hate it. You can't escape from it. It's so humid, not even an AC does any good. I'm amazed you can find an hour to wear a jacket, it's like 75f during night here. I've nothing to do this week so I try to sleep for most of the day but it's still unbearable.

I don't understand how can anyone enjoy this sort of weather... I want to move to Alaska. Barrow, preferably.

We had a heatwave in july, we don't have AC.
It was 85 inside our home. I had to spray my cats with the shower just to keep them cool.
They kept coming back asking for more, the poor things.
It was very unpleasant, i even felt sick after working in an environment with AC and then leaving to go home.

Then again, in february we'll be begging for a heatwave

My sympathies, Nick. I saw in the press that they're putting millions of little balls in your lakes to prevent evaporation, you're getting so hot and short of water (An inspired idea! I hope it works).

My Buzz L2 has been on every morning for the pre-dawn dog walks these past few weeks - what a great jacket. By the time I'm almost back home and the sun is coming up though, I don't need it. No way could I use an A2/ANJ-3 yet … but this morning was a cool 12C and I thought about the ANJ-3 briefly, but the L2 is still good for that. Just.
And riding in this morning through all the park systems, I saw that a couple of trees were starting to change colour! Fall's a-comin' …

Hoping you get some relief down there soon. And a nice gal comes your way too.

Humidity is a killer! make sure your leather gets ventilation and some UV every day to prevent mould!

As for the ladies, move first, find one later!

Man, I've lived in every zone in CA, Palm Springs, Humboldt County, San Fran and Berkeley (vastly different tho miles apart). Let me tell you, its NICE weather in all of those places compared to the hills of VT. Right now its 90% average humidity, which makes the 85-90 degree days seem like saunas. But in 4 months, it will be cold enough to kill you from exposure if you take an hour long walk with just a light leather jacket. Not to belittle your suffering, but really, love what you've got .

I hate it. 100º yesterday and the next few set to be 105º or so, plus humidity. I'd move in a minute but the wife is tied to SoCal for now so we stay. But I'm scouting land up north with a plan to at least have a place to go to escape part of the year. Really dreadful, and I've had to work extra hard to make sure that the chickens don't have heat stroke!

Bah humbug, bring on the fall!

This year hasn't been just so bad -plenty of rain (bonus), and it's been sub-28 Celsius for most of the past few weeks. Early July was dreadfully hot, over 30 every day. I was in Beijing durinbg the end of June / start of July heatwave, and shockingly enough it was coolerf there (low thirties) than in London. Hit 40 at Wimbledon....

In my ideal world, There'd bec two weeks in July where it would be 25 Celsius (so we can all wear linen), then back to 18 for the rest of August, with a daily high from September of 12 Celsius. Then I've never again have to yell at the TV weatherman's value judgements of what is "good" weather....

Fortunately that hot spell didn't last long in the UK; it lasted longer on the Continent (I was there) but fortunately the humidity was not high. London has had it hotter than the rest of the UK this summer; for me 25C is quite high enough.

In my ideal world, There'd be two weeks in July where it would be 25 Celsius (so we can all wear linen), then back to 18 for the rest of August, with a daily high from September of 12 Celsius. Then I've never again have to yell at the TV weatherman's value judgements of what is "good" weather...)

I'm with you all the way, Edward! It really annoys me when the TV weather forecasters say "the temperature will rise to x degrees AT BEST". Why are high temperatures better?

Ha! 1906 Craftsman. Only room with insulation is the add-on we're doing. It stays nice and cool, but it's not done. The rest of the house requires very expensive AC. ACH!
