Great thread, kaosharper1. I can appreciate the Indy bash but it's really not my cup of tea. Here are a couple of shots of my Moonstone Deluxe Fed IV. The first two were taken with a flash.

That is a nice bash Viper. Looks good on you too.

I tried to get a deeper dent in the crown of my fed but it turns out the top of my head is ridiculously high. Apparently I'm a conehead.

Great bash. Shows how versatile the Fed is, and it looks great on you.

I'm thinking I'm going to just send my hats to Rusty from now on, and let him shape them for me. Fantastic.

This thread is a good thing for me. I have three feds, all bashed in variations on a centre dent theme, and I need to make them a little different. Something like Viper Man's bash would be great too.

Oh, and does anybody else think Chuck Bobuck looks like Ciarán Hinds?

Alright, as requested, my Fed III on my head, moments before braving the snow and sleet outside!

Yes, I know. The coat is dreadful. But it's my shoveling coat, and in my defense of the color; it looked OD green in the catalog![/QUOTE]

Thank you Carlisle.

I wanted to mention that I walked by a tv yesterday and saw an old b&w movie playing. No idea what it was, but there was a character wearing a hat bashed the same way, he wearing a suit, in an office setting, among other fedora wearers. It was kind of neat to see that. :)

Just used a little warm water. I tried to dry bash it but the teardrop would not pop up, no way. It was a center dent for the first couple days, but I grew tired of that and don't like center dents that much. Also don't like the really tight pinch.

Hi, the crease is fine, but I would suggest to increase the frontal pinch a little way down, not all the way down to the ribbon, just a little bit. I think this would improve its appearance, the side "dents" would look better. Also, as I see it on the second photo, I think tightening the around-the-top rim would be good too.
Of course you have said you do not like tight pinches, so it is fine if you like it as it is now.

Regards!

Love the bash UWS. The points that are the top of the "V" on both sides of the crown - did you pinch those in or did they just happen as a result of you pinching the front more? It looks great. I'm going for the same kind of look, but after the tops of the "V" (hope I'm describing it the right way) mine doesn't curve as smoothly in the back as yours does. So far, all I've done is a little dry bashing. Maybe steam would help.

Those points seemed to be a result of pushing the side dents deeper and further back. I had trouble with the back of mine curving smoothly but I pinched it really tight and smoothed it out with water and that seems to have worked.

Hi again,

I think it looks better now. I see you did tighten the frontal pinch too, contrarily to your initial intention, and I believe this has been for the better. The "dip" at the top rrog is referring to is fine, too.

BTW, after the last modifications, from the front your hat is reminescent the style associated with the well known "Raiders" Indiana Jones hat crease.

Regards!
