Looks like a AJ-44, but is oddly labelled a B3

It's cracked lacquer (I think?), so yeah the exposed parts is the actual flesh side of the shearling. At least to my understanding of how B3's are finished.

Both the (new) B3's have these cracks so I assume it's "normal". I haven't owned a lacquer-finished shearling so far, so my knowledge of how to correctly care for these jackets is kinda limited.

All I know is that I've read that slapping Pecard's on them isn't the best idea.
I use Fiebing's Neatsfoot Oil to avoid cracking...

I find that my shearling jacket is instantly the perfect temperature as soon as you put it on. Unlike a nylon down type ski jacket that takes a minute for the cool nylon to warm up against your skin. When I dash outside with the dogs so they can go sniffin at night I often just toss the shearling on and fasten the belt. It has plenty of overlap to keep me toasty. The belt is a cinch to fasten in the dark.
