Yowza, great find Kahuna. I could swear I have or had sometime in the past that maroon/yellow/silver one in the middle of the 4th pic. And what a price. I'm happy when I get ties at a quarter a piece.

That Rick Griffin tie is so cool! I'm dating myself but I've been a Griffin fan since Murphy's days in Surfer in the mid 60s. I collect quite a bit of Griffin stuff and this is the first time I've seen a tie.

Ya only 500 were made. Their getting up there in price.

Boy the story's I could tell about the Height Ashbury scene and my apprenticeship with the artists.

At Haut surfshop were I cut my teeth, the last old school surfshop in California, since 1965, build them in back sell them up front.

Haut told me Rick camped in his bus in the parking all summer of 1970 and sold acid and grass for $. The acid and grass was coming from down south. Through a notorious underground surf mafia called The Brotherhood.

Inside the shaping and sanding bays there's original Griffin Artwork on the walls. Plus scribbling from countless notorious 60s counter culture icons.

As time goes on I'll post story's and a few photos for the loungers

SurfGent -- thanks to your excellent post on Ernst ties I'm now aware of them and have spent way too much time trying to determine if this tie in a Perry Mason episode might be one. Season 1, Episode 34, "The Case of the Gilded Lily", 1958. Thoughts?

Lol, might be, they got really commercial for awhile. Sold at Macy's ect. That particular pattern is distinctive Ernst. But there's no way to tell for sure
