There are many ways to date ties. I don't know what era particularly piques your interest, so i can't say specific qualities here. However, hand-painted art deco ties from the 40s and late 50s are very sought after. For good reason, they're beautiful. Mute patterns don't attract much attention these days.Is there a rule-of-thumb or something that calls out 'vintage' when I'm pawing through a rack of 100+ ties at Goodwill or a resale store? Beyond appeal, how can you spot vintage? I assume all vintage is not equal - is there a value factor that differentiates between old department store and collectable? Maybe that's what I'm asking... what constitutes a 'collectable' vintage tie?
I may make through 50 more pages tonight before I get attracted to another forum.
