It's been slim pickings at the thrifties and fleabag stores lately so I did something I rarely do....went fishing in the bay for a fix.

Thanks Greg and Bob.

I guess I shoulda just held out. Just now went out for a beer run and on a whim stopped at the thrifty down the street. Found this Regal for $1.

It needs cleaning up a little, but for a buck who's complaining.
I also found a DVD of Sky Captain for $2. Not a bad flick and I'll bet my boys will dig it. Heck, the girls might, too.

Nice ones Dale! I like the rooster. So Sky Captain is worth a watch?

I often have the same problem. Most charity shops here don't stock vintage/old stuff, only new and designer. I get a lot via EBay, but only seek out the bargains!

Thanks Eddie!

It's the same here, the thrift stores mainly have more modern offerings. Great if you're into labels, but no so great for vintage. There's a few here I get lucky at from time to time, but none are regular producers. The bay is, of course, a great and endless source, but even there the bargains are few and far between. I'm just not a $20+ tie kinda guy. Too much else I gotta pay for.

As for Sky Capt., I'd say if you have an interest in the 30s/40s version of "the future" you'd get a kick from it.

Same here on the thrift stores and definitely no decent aloha shirts. Like that Regal, Dale. Second time I've seen a Blach's label pop up here.

Thanks Bama. Blach's was a fixture here from the turn of the last century til the late 80s. Quite a bit of their stuff turns up in the thrift stores.

A nice Linosair tie. I reckon it's pretty damn old, judging by the weave of the wool, and the very short length. It's also not a Linosair label I've got (I don't think). Either that, or it's a boy's tie - but there's no label to suggest that.
