It's also unusual to see ties from that era which are self-tipped, like that one and the three others on that board surrounding it. I'm glad that one has the NRA tag or the dating would have been fuzzy. My guess would be that that type of construction was indicative of an inexpensively made tie. Much more simple than your standard stitched or tipped construction of the same era.
I really like the various textures of that one, Herrinbonekid. Textile weaving can be an art form, and little snips of it like that tie, or some of the great caps I've seen made elsewhere on the lounge, are great ways to exhibit that art.
