Beautiful Norfolk! Any idea of its age? Hard to tell I suppose; they have changed very little since the late 19th Century.

It's danish and although it's wool ( says graham tweed ) I think it's from the 70s. Label says Mayfair of Denmark inside. The feel I get from the stitching, lining and general construction makes me think it's pretty new at least. Nevertheless it fits perfectly in the shoulders, armholes, sleeves and waist so it's all good.

A classic Norfolk, with its four-button front and belt makes quite a strong statement nowadays, at least here in the US. This is more subtle. I like that.

I just received the suit from the tailor and the hat in the mail (eBay)... I was trying to go for a Roger Sterling Mad Men look. I look nothing like John Slattery but the suit and the hat I think are a match.

Thoughts?

I love it. My only advice would be to unbutton the bottom button of the vest and to get ahold of a white silk pocket square.

Tomasso, yeah, the jacket is a little long, I noticed that, but I'll be keeping it that way.

VL, good point, I forgot to put my kerchief in. And bottom button, gotcha.

That's a great look and especially accurate for Roger. You kind of do look like him Just thin the tie and change the glasses!

Go ahead, but I hope you realize that the vest is sitting way too low on your torso.

Look how much shirt/tie you're showing compared to say......

New Old Stock Suits

I found these three two piece single breasted suits while on a road trip this summer. A store was closing down and the store owner cleared out the entire stock. A rack of vintage suits up front had only weird sizes but in the corner of my eye I spotted some similar garments. There, in the far corner of the store, was another rack filled with suits. At $40 a piece I couldn´t resist buying all suits my size.

The suits are all the same model but for some reason the jacket of the brown suit to the left doesn´t fit as well as the other two. There is a bulge below the neck which I guess can be altered by a tailor.

I´ve started wearing the grey suit to the right with the risk of being tagged as a Mad Men wannabe.

I´d say they´re probably from the 60:s but await the expertise. Here are some closeups of the labels:

Tomasso,

Good point on the vest riding lower, it's been taking in, but I think this suit was more late sixties? It's just a guess, I may find an orphaned vest that will match up a bit better. Who knows.

Haberdasher, the glasses don't fit true, I'm looking for some browlines that I like that I won't get my pants pulled down over.

Mario, I dig the suit. Very, very nice.

The low gorge lapel style and polyester fiber material seem 1980's to me.

I have to disagree. The letters VDN on the grey suit label means Varudeklarationsnämnden, a Swedish consumer organization active beween 1951-1972. The Swedish language used on that label also has a more vintage ring to it than that of the 80:s. Of course the suits could be from different eras but I find that unlikely since they all have the similar paper tags.
