Well I knew that, I meant in terms of colour with a suit... :eusa_doh:

 Okay, sorry but this is my final question!
Would a black Bowtie go or what are they
usually worn with?

Black bowties are traditionally reserved for black tie ("tuxedos") - they're not to be worn with a lounge suit. Note this is referring to a silk pure black tie - a spotted black bow tie, for example, should never be work with black tie, and so would be great with a lounge suit (à la Churchill).

I just received this beauty in the mail. Dated 1942,

It needs some buttons re-enforced and I need to take the cuffs in a little so they do not drag, but the fit seems great, especially in the arm holes which I am surprised.

What do you all think? Oh and the tie was just one I had lying around, I am purchasing some vintage ties to go with the suit, and well, just to have in general.

Here are the tags, my apologies, but my camera is awful at close shots.
I've edited the photos as best as I could but the date is October something 1942.

The jacket looks a little short. It should be long enough to cover the crotch of your trousers (see line). Is it possible that your trousers are not pulled up all the way?

BTW, I wish gents would pose with both hands at their side when requesting opinions on fit.

Tomasso,

You know I think you're right, as I have never worn a suit of this cut I do not think that I had the waist pulle dup enough.

The measurements all add up that the fit should be pretty good.

Yep, just found a photo I took of the jacket open, pants are WAY too low... I'll have to crank those puppies up a notch. That's good though, means I don't need to alter the pant length.
Thanks Tomasso for the candid advice, I knew you folks wouldn't steer me wrong.

GREAT SUIT! :eusa_clap

If there aren't suspenders buttons on those trousers I'd have them added. You can then tweak the 'ride height' of those britches to your liking. :)

I agree with you getting vintage ties to go with that one - and if you get around to purchasing a fedora with a slightly boxier crown, that wouldn't hurt the look a bit. ;)

Harp, they have buttons thankfully, so I'm just shopping for some quality straps.

And after that you bet there will be a different hat for that suit, it demands it. This was the only hat I had at the time... I'm thinking a light brown... because my cordovan color shoes go great with the suit.

As soon as I find some suspenders I like I'll post pictures of the happily suspended slacks and me in 'em.

BTW, dress trousers should be worn high enough that a decision must be made as to whether one should dress right or left.

For the hat, I'm thinking a silver belly, open road clone with a pinch-front diamond crease; or perhaps a dove-gray Homburg?

I was actually thinking of a cordovan hat. Like this
the Stetson Saxon in Cordovan. It's a really dark brown, and a beaut.

I have some Cordovan saddle oxfords that I threw on with the suit, just to have shoes on and I was surprised at how well the color went with the suit. It matches nicely with the pinstripe... there are actually two sets of stripes.

Here's a photo to take a look see and a close up of the suit to match. Once again ignore the tie, I'm regretting putting that on.

Dinerman, that's a good point, I am always looking, but as of yet, I haven't found any on ebay (my only option in Juneau.) I remember saying the exact same thing but about a vintage suit and oui la.

But the good thing is, I don't just need one hat to go with this suit, if and or when I find another doosey, I'll grab that too.

And I do eat in diners, every chance I get.
